Saw this early today and haven't seen it previously discussed. This guy is attempting to do 50 iron mans in 50 days, in all 50 states. Apparently he already holds some world records and he's on day 31 now.

Iron Cowboy

I've never done an iron man, but can imagine how tough it would be. Is this the greatest display of fitness/ endurance ever for any sporting event? I can't think of anything that would top it.

Cool idea, but how in the world are people having iron mans outside of the weekend? Like where is he finding a convenient IM happening on a tuesday?

He's just doing the Ironman distance each day.

Yes, even if he quit today. That's just ridiculous, and I would've said humanly impossible.

Anyone who has at least run a marathon or something similar can attest to how difficult that is.

If I remember, he's genetically gifted.

Mrs. Golfer did the 70.3 and I'm still impressed with everyone that finished...this guy is doing 140.6 x 50.

he is just doing the distance

he did his LA one in Shreveport in a pool, then a stationary bike in someone's house, then went to a gym and ran on a treadmill for his marathon

it is a huge feat, but I think it's kinda bullshite that he is just treadmills and stationary bikes...those are not the same as riding or running on roads, not even close

He did one of the marathons on the elliptical.

Scott Jurek currently running the Appalachian Trail in under 46 days is more impressive.

that sounds so awful. i can barely do 3 miles on a treadmill before i get too fricking bored to do anymore. have to run outside, otherwise i don't run at all.

Is he doing that because of weather? Or just to simplify his transitions?

The only thing that impresses me about that is that he's willing to run on a treadmill that long. I go crazy after 45 minutes.

Speaking of which

What is the sport/physical activity that was the most exhausting that everyone was involved in?

The Murphy, fight gone bad, and 150 wall balls were the most taxing workouts I've had.

I'd say judo as a sport

lol truth. Seriously though using a treadmill kind of defeats the point of 50 states/50 days. Why not just use the same pool and treadmill everyday.

Ok didn't read closely enough. So have any of his days been spent actually competing in events? I know of a few iron man events over that time frame.

Still impressive feat but running inside and on elliptical does take away from how awesome I originally thought it was.

This is stupid.

People who destroy their bodies for attention are just the worst.
