To the Yankees on Sunday night baseball. I'm not sure if this has been covered on this board, but what happened to him? He used to be lights out, even was on the cover of MLB 2K. It looks like he can't keep the ball down to save his life..

Maybe age? There are only a small handful of pitchers that can be good for more than 5-7 years.

9.26 ERA vs the Yankees coming into this game....

He has already given up as many home runs as last year I believe. I think the ballpark may have hurt him as he has a 4+ home ERA and almost a 5 road ERA.

It's generally not a good thing when your only plus pitch is a changeup. His fastball command has been terrible this year.

They could obviously use more production from him, as their pitching staff looks like one of the worst in the league.

Wright and Porcello have been fine. It's the lack of a 4 and 5 that have doomed the rotation so far. If ERod can maintain, with Pomeranz this is a legit pennant team.

Obviously I'm concerned with Price, but he's had some ace style games, he's just also had a lot of stinkers.

His peripherals are pretty encouraging, but even they are not ace level. He should improve, but I am not sure his likelihood of being an ace again.

It's weird, Price has always been regarded as a top-tier guy but the Rangers have almost always shelled him.

That's about the only times I've ever seen him pitch though.

He's always had good peripherals but only occasionally have his base stats reflected it. I'm sure pitching in the AL East most of his career doesn't help.

He has a career ERA of 3.19, FIP of 3.21, and xFIP of 3.34. His 2016 FIP of 3.41 is the worst since 2010 when it was 3.42 (second season as a starter). His base stats and underlying numbers have all been pretty killer over the past five years. Despite the second best K-BB% and best K/9 of his career, I think it is mostly really bad luck, but I think he has taken a small step back.

The problem is the $200 million the Sox gave him.
