Why is this happening if public support is behind GB? My knowledge of lines moving is very basic.

It's called reverse line movement.

Likely means the % of bets on Green Bay is higher, but there is more money coming in for Atlanta. Meaning the people betting big are betting the Falcons.

Example: There are 1,000 bets on the game thus far. 900 of them are for Green Bay at $50 each. The remaining 100 bets are on the Falcons for $1,000 each.

Packers are getting 90% of the bets, but Atlanta is getting nearly 70% of the money.

Vegas raises the Atlanta line to incentivize betting on the Packers so the money can potentially be more evenly distributed.

This game is really tough. I like the Falcons, but Rodgers can win all on his own.

Normally isn't that a good sign for a team? That the "whales" see something the rest of the public doesnt?

I don't want to own a farm in a world that has Atlanta in the superbowl.

Meh it has never bothered me that NOLA got one. It is easy to get over. Falcons and Saints are mirror images of each other as far as franchises go, so it will happen sooner or later. The good part is it makes your teams fans demand better instead of complacency.

In my opinion, this means there were some sharps (or whales as you called them) out there that thought the Atlanta line was too low, so they loaded up.

However, there are some instances where this happens, and other sharps take the opposite side when the line goes higher.

For now I would say it's a good sign for Atlanta if the sharps are driving that line up. But I don't really know the percentages of the bets for this game, so I can't make an accurate assessment.

There are many on this board who have been keeping up who would likely have a better answer though.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Atlanta won easily.

I'll take the Falcons because of their consistency, slight defensive edge, and being at home.

In no way, shape, or form would I take Ryan over Rodgers though.

This. Rodgers has been phenomenal, but I think Atlanta is just a more complete team right now.

If Beasley can get some pressure on him, I like our chances.

No Saints fan will choose the Falcons, so it doesn't really even matter with this post. You need to go to /r/NFL or something if you want unbiased answers.

Rodgers is playing at a level right now that may be better than anyone at that position ever has. Give me that guy.
