are people really considering san diego to be a large market? its ranked 28th behind raleigh, charlotte, sacramento, denver, etc. thats before we get into the fact that it has all of the LA teams 120 miles north. san diego is the definition of a small market in regards to sports

I guess it doesn't matter. If take any NFL team and I'd move them to austin.

If I was forced to keep the team in said city I'd instead of buying any NFL team buy instead the Atlanta Braves. And if Atlanta is not considered small market enough I'll buy nothing.
How do y'all not know what a major market is? I've seen people say Houston, Toronto, and now Atlanta

I know it's 2+million, but does Brooklyn count?
No, a New York market doesn't count.....

Atlanta is probably the 8th largest market in us...not very major

So top 10 isn't a large market? What are we calling major then? Just NY, LA, Chicago, and Dallas?
Either way, Atlanta is not by any definition a "small market", just like Houston or Toronto. Small market is like a Portland, Memphis, NO, Cincy etc...

Jesus Christ, San Diego is a small market. Its relative to other massive cities, nobody is saying that San Diego is struggling to justify operating a WalMart because of their small market.

When you count the duplicates ahead of them. Ex:baseball has 2 LA, 2 Chicago, 2 Bay Area, and 2 NY, that drops them to team with the 12th largest market is a league of 30? No, thats not a large market.

Portland, they support their pro teams in the city.
Blazers and Timbers both get extremely good crowd support.

I would probably take the Panthers.
Charlotte is a small/mid-size market for the sports world (in the low 20's for both TV market and metro population, a little higher than that for population of the city proper). Charlotte and the Panthers kind of fly under the radar nationally, but the team gets very solid support, is worth a ton of money, and is located in a city with good corporate bases. The Panthers have done pretty well on the field, but have never won the Super Bowl and I imagine I would be quite the hero in NC if my team brought the state its first Super Bowl win. Charlotte seem like nice enough places to live (close enough to the beach, mountains, and some major cities) and doesn't get a ton of snow and bad winter weather.
Maybe me and MJ could do some events where we did cross promotion of our teams. How cool would that be?
