MLB - KC
MLS - KC
NBA - Memphis or Sacramento
NHL - Columbus
NFL - NOLA (hey, who can resist getting state money for your team?)

NBA team in Kansas City. They have a world class facility waiting for a tenant in the Sprint Center and it's a great basketball town.

This. Blows my mind how there's not an NBA presence here. KC would be perfect.

Check out this article- Why KC will never get another NBA team

I'm biased but I think Birmingham would be a good market for a team. It's a pretty big city and is easy to access from MS and Huntsville/Mobile/Montgomery. It obviously hurts the city's chances that Atlanta is only 2 hours away, Nashville is only 4, and New Orleans is 5.

Oakland and I would build the greatest stadium ever for the A's in Jack London Square.

Right. There isn't just small market and large market. There are plenty of areas that qualify as medium markets. San Diego would be upper medium if anything, certainly much closer to large than small.

You want people from Mississippi coming into your state?

Assuming the Packers are off limits due to having no true owner I would buy any other NFL team and move them to Montreal.

If I was forced to keep the team in said city I'd instead of buying any NFL team buy instead the Atlanta Braves.

And if Atlanta is not considered small market enough I'll buy nothing.

Cincinnati Reds or Bengals

Loyal fans, New stadiums, and a surprisingly good city. I love that skyline driving down from Kentucky.

Plenty of money to be made if you field a playoff contender in either sport, and if you deliver a title, you will be a king.

Forgot about the Thunder being in OKC. I would choose them as my NBA team. OKC is an absolutely fantastic city. I loved living there, and that was 10 years ago. They have made a ton of upgrades since then.

If I was starting new franchises:

Football: San Antonio
Baseball: Albuquerque
Basketball: Seattle
Hockey: Omaha

The last two are interchangeable for the sports though.

If purchasing an established franchise the only ones I would want are:

San Antonio Spurs

San Diego or New Orleans for me. Honorable mention for Miami, if you consider that a small market.

For cities that currently have pro sports: Tampa Bay, Jacksonville, San Antonio, and Charlotte.

Does Nashville qualify as small market?

Also the guy that said Birmingham, I've said for years that an NBA team would have a very good following here. People here would embrace and NBA team the way fans in OKC have.
