If the Yanks fire Joe Girardi, is it a huge mistake?

Obviously they're thinking hard about canning him but given what shape the rest of the league is in, would firing him be a humongous mistake doing so?
To bring a young team within one game of the WS before they were really expected to be there, seems like they ought to keep going in that direction...

Seems like MLB managers get fired after making it far into the postseason way more than any other sport.

They won't fire him after this year....
He makes a lot of mistakes managing the bullpen and starters but overall he isn't the worst out there... The Yankees can win with him (09 obviously) but he needs to learn a feel.... anyone could see the Yankees should have had someone warming up today after the Gattis home run

If Girardi leaves it'll be mostly on his own terms instead of management. It'll be mutual or 100% his decision.

I'd fire Bannister for him

They should hire Farrell.

Say they did
Who would you get to replace him?

Obvious choices are Mattingly, Tony Perez, Roberto Kelly, Sandy Alomar Jr, Jacque Jones, and retreads like Farrell

Any feeling on Fredi González?

i would pay to see BB03 melt everyday because of mattingly

I don't feel Mattingly would be worse than Girardi to be honest... both have bullpen issues but the Yankees have a better bullpen than the Dodgers had when he was the manager

NHL is pretty harsh too.
