Prolly not. Almost impossible for a black guy to win MVP in the NBA

Steve Nash is a weird situation. His numbers were very inflated in the PHX offense (more possessions), but the high tempo offenses rarely have players with so many assists because they spread the ball around so much. He also was shooting so well. But Shaq did get screwed.

No, but if Shaq/Kobe were white they'd have more than one

(assuming white Shaq hit FTs)

You must not have been around when Nash won his MVPs. Because if you were, then this wouldn't be a question.

I don't care about the racial question, but I do know it will be similar if James Harden wins MVP this year: eliminated by the second round.

it's still bullshite that Kidd didn't win the MVP in the 2001-02 season

Since 1977, only one mvp winner has scored less than 20 ppg; steve nash, twice
I think its a legit question

his first one should have gone to Shaq. Shaq was getting the current CP3 treatment then--been so good for so long, that you start getting overlooked in MVP talk. Even then, Shaq barely lost to Nash.

No doubt the 05-06 MVP was Nash's. He as insane and went 50-40-90.

You're technically correct, for sure.

But people used to talk about D'antoni's system, but I think we now see that Nash made D'antoni more than the other way around IMO.

People always bring up the 2 MVPs compared to Shaq's 1, and sure that is absurd. But in doing so, it definitely underrates just how great Nash was. Ask for a list of top 5 shooters ever, and I'm guessing Nash isn't on very many of them, and he may be the best shooter ever, certainly a solid case for #1, r at least 2 or 3.

I think D'Antoni needs a decent PG to run his offense. Nash was definitely elite. But D'Antoni never had a decent one after him. Chris Duhon was putting up some crazy games in New York, but he wasn't consistent because he sucks.

That's a nice shiny hook for StrongSafety.

Rose's MVP is more questionable

Throw him a bone....it's a nice change of pace from the 3,000 black hatred threads on here every day. Like a nice iced coffee after 10 years of hot coffee.

It's probably equal due to Shaq and Nash.

But I also think Nash's greatness in those 2 seasons is a lot closer to on par as DRose during his MVP season than most others probably think it is.

Would the Suns have gone from 29 wins in 04 to 62 wins in 05 if Nash was black?

Steve Nash is African by birth so he is grandfathered in.
