Because nobody cares about the WNBA? They're lucky to have jobs in the first place.

The only reason the WNBA exists is because people care about women's rights and equal access for women Basketball players to have a pro league. If the league wasn't propped up by people's good will and $$ it would fold tomorrow. It's not even close to being economically feasible on its own.

Maya Moore kind of and our illustrious President also thinks so. He again, clearly does not understand basic Economics and market principles...

LINK

quote:

In his remarks, Obama quoted Lynx player Maya Moore, who said, "We’re not super rich like the guys … but money’s not everything when you’re talking about dynasties and legacies, and inspiring young women and men, and opening people’s minds."

But "money is useful, too," Obama said, "and I am for equal pay for equal work."

Even women generally don't care about WNBA. If their own gender won't even promote and support their own, how can they expect others to do so?

If only it was equal work. Let's have a champ v. champ exhibition game and see how similar the product is.

If the league generate similar ratings and income as the NBA I would say it'd be deserved. If they're being compensated relative to the revenue and profits they bring in, then it's fair.

That's not the way entertainment as employment works.

I hope he realizes it's a sport and therefore entertainment. And the WNBA is 1/10 entertaining as the NBA.

I wrote a novel once, I want to get paid like Stephen King...we both wrote over 300 pages.
