i grew up in the 80s/90s and after mj retired i thought the nba was horrible! couldnt bear to even watch the playoffs. Everything seemed diluted. But the past 5 or so years have been amazing, there is as much if not more talent as a whole in the nba than there has ever been. Very very good product. Football is my favorite sport by a mile, but if you were to give me the choice of nba playoff tickets or nfl playoff tickets, i would take the nba and run! nba games in persone are the most entertaining atmosphere i have ever been to.

Damn right a script exists

I said before the playoffs started that the NBA would have Cleveland lose to the Clippers-Spurs winner in the finals and that is what is going to happen

I went all in on the Cavs ML for Game 4 as I knew the game would be fixed in their favor

Look at the free throw totals

NBA didn't want Cavs going down 3-1 as they know this series is basically the ECF since no one cares about Atlanta or Washington

It's because David Stern learned the power of TV ratings and television money and began to pay the refs to rig games in order to maximize the number of games in a series and advance the teams that will maximize TV ratings, or punish owners he doesn't like(2006 Finals rig).

Do I need to find my thread from last year, showing how 4-5 game Finals Series have been as likely as 6-7 game series, going back a few decades?

Entertainment value, no way.

Naw, close games by an inferior product is making you think it is.

Reddick was obviously not my only reason to rethink it. I have been thinking about it throughout these playoffs. I've been watching old film on Youtube for fun and have been comparing it to today's game.

But, Reddick's 15 points in the 3rd quarter would have been a huge thing in the past. Not so much today. So, I thought about it even more.

It just sparked the thought.

And, again, the top teams of the past would still do well today.

Much more traveling is allowed in the NBA today vs. the 80s/90s.

Not including Kendrick Perkins' 8 steps a few weeks ago, traveling has been bad for a long time. Jordan would run from half court with the ball under his arm stiff arming people on his way to the basket.

I kid, obviously. It wasn't THAT bad, but it was pretty bad.

Just go look at an All Star game from the 80s-90s...they played their arses off in a pickup game...

I'd say the only element today's NBA is missing are true rivalries, watching old docs you could tell those teams hated each other on and off the court and it made for some great entertainment.

Other than that the current product is very good and the people who refuse to watch because of dated preconceived notions are only screwing themselves.

while mj would probably win out. The dream team would have matchup nightmares with this decades stars

cp3/westbrook vs magic/stockton
kobe vs mj
durant vs bird
lebron vs malone/barkely
ad/timmy d vs robinson/ewing

todays guys are much more athletic where those guys were more fundamental.
