Lived on many of bases and I've never heard the national anthem played at 0800 or anytime for that matter.

Freedom of speech means the government won't put him in jail. Doesn't affect NFL. I don't understand how this is ok but NFL micromanages things like cleat color and didn't let players where certain arm bands etc for other causes. Whatever, the NFL can do as it pleases but a little consistency might make people more understanding.

it's not even about the flag thing, which is sad.. but more about him stating black people are oppressed that is annoying. that shite is ridiculous and he should check out other countries.

The Flag and the National anthem are things that are important to Americans, no matter what your politics are, your color, or your financial standing. If you love America the Flag and the National Anthem are important to you. This has nothing to do with our government but everything to do with this country and its people

I have a cousin & an uncle, one in the Navy as the OP describes & the other a Marine & I just talked to both as they are on leave for the upcoming holiday wkend. Both said that they have never seen what the OP describes here. I call BS.
