Why do people insist Texas has great winning tradition?

Strong set himself up to fail with his unrealistic desire to change the culture and style of player overnight.. He gutted his line and has very little quality depth. That change has hurt recruiting and while I like Strong and the way he's trying to win, it's almost inevitable that he won't be given the time to see if his way was correct..

From ShaggyTexas. Funny, but true.

The problem isn't the quality of opponent. The problem is the quality of the Texas Longhorns. We are five games into the season and the highlight of the next seven games will be to see how we play against Kansas. Let that sink in for a few minutes.

Several reasons not to fire him now...

They just fired the AD so doing it now makes them look knee jerk and reactionary. Who wants to come coach in that environment?

Firing him mid season doesn't do the team or him any good. And everyone, even the fans "like" Charlie as a person.

Who knows maybe there will be some light in the tunnel by the end of the season.

Jim Harbaugh has turned around Michigan after 5 games with a nice 4-1 record.

UNLV, Oregon State, Maryland, and BYU sans Hill would all lose to Texas too.

Yeah, I'm not sold on Michigan being turned around either. I will say that they have improved.

When he took the job, Texas had the 3rd most wins in college football history.

They are third in all time wins, have more bowl games than anyone not named Alabama, and have four national championships. Other than that, who knows.

I think they go after Gundy, Graham, or Holgorsen. It will be an offensive guy.

And that all happened prior to 1980

So is tradition from Dana X Bible SWC days until The End of SWC/Big XII

Or do we count just last 30 like UF and most do?

Just set the rules because since the hiring of Akers until Mack UT was an afterthought.

Mack for a run of 10 brought them back. DeLoss capitalized built an empire and improved the facilities and spent.

They won a national championship in 2005 and played for another in 2009. They also won 10 games or more for nine years straight. You hate Texas. We get it.

Texas has won 1 national title in the last 40 years. Also...look at the competition they faced in the SWC for all those years to figure out why they have so many wins.

That was the 10 year run dumbass

But I don't hate Texas I hate Baylor. But make sure you know a schools true history. You know, the Akers, Macovick and McWilliams eras count or are they like the Fickle year at tOSU and Darnell year at UF just forgotten?

And? I'm not making a case for Texas being the best program of all time. I'm just saying they aren't Missouri or Purdue.

Between this and the Herman thread, you sure are on a roll.

It shows.

I do. I also posted up some facts for consideration. Spin whatever "era" you want to fit your goals, it doesn't change the fact that Texas is historically a better program than the large majority.

10-4 Tiger. Michigan will beat Sparty in a few weeks. MSU is #2 and 0-5 ATS. Complete garbage football team.

He ought to get three years. I don't know if he will, based on the current mess. Strong will end up with a good job. Shoot, he would be a good fit for South Carolina after Spurrier retires.
