This isn't a major realignment, but it seems to make more sense than what we currently have:

NFC East: NYG, CAR, WAS, PHI
NFC South: NO, DAL, ATL, TB
NFC West: SF, SEA, LAR, AZ
NFC North: GB, MIN, CHI, DET

AFC East: BUF, NE, NYJ, BAL
AFC South: TEN, HOU, JAX, MIA
AFC West: LAC, LVR, DEN, KC
AFC North: IND, PIT, CLE, CIN

I moved Dallas to the NFCS, Carolina to the East. AFC, I moved IND to the North, Baltimore to the East, and Miami to the South.

As far as conference realignment, I'm not sure which teams would be good candidates to switch.

Jerry Jones, Fox and NBC would throw a hissy fit if the Cowboys didn't get to play the Northeast television markets twice a year.

Ditto for Miami. Newsflash: Nobody cares about the Dolphins' "rivalries" with the Jets and Patriots anymore.

No chance the current NFC East ever changes. They love some Cowboys vs. East coast teams

They will never move Dallas out of the NFC East.

Miami and Dallas didn't realign like the rest of the NFL to "preserve their traditional rivalries."

EASTERN CONFERENCE

D1: Buffalo, New England, Giants, Jets
D2: Philly, Washington, Pittsburgh, Baltimore
D3: Carolina, Miami, Tampa, Jacksonville
D4: Cleveland, Cincinnati, Tennesse, Detroit

WESTERN CONFEENCE

D1: Chicago, Green Bay, Minnesota, Indy
D2: Atlanta, New Orleans, Houston, Dallas
D3: Kansas City, Arizona, Denver, Seattle
D4: Rams, Chargers, 49ers, Raiders

The only odd one would be Atlanta in the West

Cowboys will always play the Giants and Skins. Always.

Particularly because it's east of Tennessee.

So the point of this is to reduce air travel by a few hours per year?

yea frick off with this bull shite

Dallas will always be in the division with those other three.

Moving Carolina to the east puts the closet team 6 hours away. Yea so starch that.

Bmore to the east no way, regional the north works esp with the Pittsburgh rivalry.

Yeah but you're thinking geographically. They're thinking financially.

The NFL only cares about two things in regards to divisions.
1) Keep the West coast teams in the same division.
2) Maintain traditional rivalries.

Travel isn't an issue in the NFL, so there is no need to group teams as close as possible geographically to cut down on travel time. NFL teams only get on a plane 8 times a year. They don't go on 10 day road trips.

Let the expansion teams play with each other in the AFC South. And in the AFC North, let the teams that have ties with Baltimore and Cleveland play with the Steelers.

A lot of times I miss the old NFC "West." I used to love when the Saints played the 49ers and Rams twice a year, even though they generally kicked our arse. I have a lot more dislike for those traditional rivals than I do for Carolina and Tampa Bay. The Saints/Panthers thing has started to ramp up, but I just can't get myself up for a Saints/Bucs game ever.

That's because the Panthers have been a better team more than TB has. I think that changes going forward. It seems that Jameis is on an upward trend. Cam, who knows.

If we're really looking down the road (like 10 years) and we take Jerry Jones' wants and needs out of the equation...

AFC
South - Miami, Tampa Bay, Atlanta, Carolina
West - Denver, Arizona, Kansas City, Mexico City (formerly LA Chargers)
North - Indianapolis, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh
East - New England, NY Jets, Toronto (formerly Buffalo Bills), London (formerly Jacksonville Jags)

NFC
South - Dallas, Houston, Tennessee, New Orleans
West - Seattle, San Fran, LA Rams, Las Vegas Raiders
North - Minnesota, Green Bay, Chicago, Detroit
East - NY Giants, Philadelphia, Washington, Baltimore

Okay. My original realignment 2.0. Divide up the conference North/South or East/West. It still works.

NORTHEAST DIVISION: New England, Giants, Jets, Philadelphia
GREAT LAKES DIVISION: Buffalo, Cleveland, Detroit, Pittsburgh
ATLANTIC COAST DIVISION: Washington, Baltimore, Carolina, Tennessee
SOUTHEAST DIVISION: Atlanta, Jacksonville, Tampa Bay, Miami
MIDWEST DIVISION: Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Chicago, Green Bay
SOUTHWEST DIVISION: New Orleans, Houston, Dallas, Arizona
NORTHWEST DIVISION: Minnesota, Kansas City, Denver, Seattle
PACIFIC COAST DIVISION: Rama, Chargers, San Francisco, Oakland
