College games are better now but used to be unbearable from 3.3 to 3.5 hours in the 80's and 90's.

For what? You are not on any real TV and if you are local feed, not any TV that matters with real sponsors. Since there were no real commercial needs for commercial breaks like CFB...

Just slow for slow sake.

Why did College Baseball have to lolligag and play with their cap for 2 minutes before making a pitch?

College Baseball wised up...nobody really watches it...and SEC tried to quicken the pace to get viewers...and attract sponsors to a sport no sponsor wants to join.

Intentional walk majority of at bats. He'd be that much better than everyone to the point it would rarely make sense to pitch to him.

Wow! I agree with college baseball not ring as good because of the metal bats. I think they should make the change to wood bats and , if they did , I would , most likely , become a HUGE , college baseball fan. But college football?! IMO it is SO much better than the NFL! And I love NFL football! The two just don't compare on my list though. I'll take CFB over NFL everyday , all day! Now I also think ALL college sports should use the EXACT same equipment that is normal and legal in the pro version of each sport. That just makes sense to me. I've never heard anyone saying they didn't follow or couldn't get in to college football as much as pro football because the players were so much better. I've always thought that people that were not in to college football came more from where they live/grew up more than the talent level. I was raised in upstate NY until I was 15 and until my family made the move to TN , I didn't give a shite about college football and loved the NFL. That was only because where I came from , nobody gave a shite about college football. Hell , wrestling and field hockey were more important! Then I was fortunate enough to move to the south and college football became a way of life and , by far , my most favorite sport! I respect your opinion , although I think it's assinine , but it also makes me wonder where you grew up. CFB , IMO , is the greatest sport on earth. CBaseB could be much better with only one change .....wood bats!

First time for everything I guess. I was born and raised in Baton Rouge so being a Tiger fan is in my blood, but I just can't get that excited for them or CFB in general anymore. It's mostly the shitty QB play in CFB.

NFL and MLB players are better at everything. I would rather spend my time watching the best of the best.

I realize it's an unpopular opinion on a primarily CFB-based website, but it is what it is.

As others have said, he'd completely dominate.

I know it is still early, but I think it is interesting to discuss who has fulfilled their hype more - LeBron or Harper? Both were getting insane hype as juniors in high school, hype that no one has seen since, even though some have come close, and they have performed at an elite, MVP level already. LeBron is solidly inside the Top 10 players of all time, so I'd give him the nod, but Harper has so much time on his side that it is hard not to get excited about his future.

He probably would have played at South Carolina. His brother played here and was on the 2011 national championship team.

ETA: previous poster beat me to it.

People don't realize his jc was a wood bat jc. In sec, using the bats he would probably post a line like .460 25 hr 79 rbi. He wouldn't get pitched to.

Brandon Larsen hit 40 HR in 69 games in '97 for LSU, trailing Lance Berkman with 41 HR in 63 games for Rice in '97. Take away the juiced bats of that time (and other rampant juicing), and I bet Harper hits a HR at least every other game as a freshman, so probably 30-40 HRs.

No way, bring back the -5's and let them rake, probably need an L screen for the pitcher though.... I grew up on the 90s LSU teams, went a few years back to a game at the box. Week day game vs SELU, bottom of the first inning lead off singles up the middle. #2 hitters sac bunts him to second! Rediculous, first inning of a meaningless game and you don't trust your 2 hole hitter to swing away?

Even a lot of mlb pitchers won't really pitch to him. That's why the guys in front of him need to get on base. Maybe Revere getting healthy at the leadoff spot will help him.

Even so, he has 9 HR's and 24 RBI's in 64 official AB's.
That's crazy.

Bryce Harper in college would've been like Barry Bonds was in the MLB from 2000-2004. So much better than everyone else it would be insane.

Runner in scoring position with 1 out and your 3 and 4 hole hitter up. What's wrong with that?

The point is your 2 hole hitter should have some pop. You severely limit a possibility for a big inning by sac bunting in that situation. Weekday game vs a in state school its not like you are facing someone that you will only get a chance or 2 the whole game. Never would you see an mlb team sac bunt there. But thats what the game has become, I'm just saying its not a ton of fun to watch.

What?

I've never posted on the rant once. The Rant is the board to discuss college athletics. I just told you I don't like watching college athletics. That should have been enough information to let you know I don't post on the Rant.

Maybe you were going for retard? Idk. But if liking the MLB and NFL more for the reasons I stated makes me a retard, I'm fine with that.
