That would be terrible. Some of these games wouldn't have mattered

Would be a solid debate between Mississippi State and Ole Miss.IMO. I think Michigan State would take the other spot without too much debate after Wisconsin got skulldrug.

If you are a Baylor, TCU, or Ohio State fan you probably wouldnt think that sounds so terrible right now.

I have been so against anything more than 4 teams all season long, I think todays results changed my mind. I love that every single game matters in College Football, which is why only 4 teams assures that every season. Seeing that 2 teams with legitimate arguements are going to be left out (both with a claim to a conference championship) just doesnt sit right.

Agreed. Anything above 6 teams is a bad idea. But I'm sure 8 is coming sooner or later.

Don't think so head to head doesn't overcome an additional loss including a drubbing by Arkansas

Weekend slate of #8 Mich St @ #1 Bama, #7 Miss St @ #2 Oregon, #6 Baylor @ #3 FSU, and #5 TCU @ #4 tOSU on December 20/21 would be awesome. Then keep the final four using the same bowl lineup in place now.

The bubble looks like a lot of teams having no business playing for a title. No thanks.

I think that is what it would end up.

8 Michigan State at 1 Alabama
7 Mississippi State at 2 Oregon
6 Baylor at 3 Florida State
5 TCU at 4 Ohio State

They would keep Mississippi State and Alabama away from each other in the first round and 4,5,6 is really anyones guess.

In a perfect world, they should be able to tailor the number of teams to the exact number of deserving teams.

This year 6.

Some years 2 or 3.

Some years one, they play a single team scrimmage in the Rose Bowl.

Essentially a BYE for those top two seeds, but a better option than a BYE. It also gives a chance down the road for an outsider like a Boise State to finally get a shot during one of those non Power 5 undefeated seasons.

How do you figure?

Bama vs Mizzou - Missouri wins they are likely in... Bama loses and they fall on the verge of not getting in.

Oregon vs Zona- win for zona and they are in with Oregon losing and moving to the bubble.

Ohio State vs Wisconsin - Ohio state still has to win to get in.

FSU is maybe the only game that "wouldn't have mattered" today. TCU and Baylor also would have been in must win mode today to assure a spot.

I think 8 teams is best and ultimately where we end up.

1-5 Power 5 champions (big 12 would be forced to get with the program).

6-8 at-large. This also gives the smaller guys a shot when they have a deserving season.

No matter where you cut it off there will always be arguments for 3-4 teams thinking they get that last spot. The 1-8 spot would paint a clearer picture of who the best team really is though.
