NBC Sports article w/ video
quote:

Saturday night, Warriors coach Steve Kerr was angered by a technical foul called on Draymond Green — and Kerr unloaded on the referees. Kerr was rightfully ejected, but he didn’t let up on the officials. He knew he was getting a fine at that point, may as well get your money’s worth.

The bill came due for Kerr Monday, he got a $25,000 fine from the league for “verbal abuse of game officials and failing to leave the court in a timely manner after his ejection.”

If you wish to see Mr. Kerr in total meltdown mode (again), there is a video in the above link, folks. The NBA report referred to his epic tirade, which was full of expletives directed at the NBA official, as "verbal abuse."

Keep in mind, this comes after Mr. Kerr has lectured you, the peasantry, on how to properly act and be respectful:
quote:

“We talked about it as a team this morning. I don’t know what else to say. Just the whole process has left all of us feeling kind of disgusted and disappointed. I thought we were better than this...This is a presidential election. It’s not The Jerry Springer Show. I’m sorry. This is my rant. I’m disappointed in the lack of respect and dignity that’s involved, and that’s the way it goes.”

Steve Kerr goes on pregame rant about presidential election: ‘I thought we were better than this' (USA Today)

While Kerr wasn't pleased with the manner in which the game was officiated, he acknowledged after the contest that the officials did the right thing by ejecting him, according to the Associated Press (h/t ESPN.com): "I was mad about a lot of things, but I got what I deserved. I deserved to be ejected, so I was, so I have no complaints."

What's the issue here? Just a hate on the Warriors vibe? I don't get it.

Him arguing with referees makes him a hypocrite? Spell that one out for me, so I don't assume something I shouldn't about what you are saying.

He, a public figure, said nasty things to another person, which if I'm not mistaken is what bothers him about the President.

I think you might be. Actually, I think you are just overly sensitive and vindictive about someone who didn't support the same presidential candidate you did. Seems silly to me and is obviously a huge reach by you.

Mr. Kerr directly contradicting his own words is a huge reach?

I read it. He seemed to hold the office of president in high regard and thought the manner in which the candidates acted and the response from those in attendance at the debates wasn't as dignified as he hoped. I don't think he said discourse between basketball coaches and referees was anything similar in context.

I am always so very shocked SHOCKED to discover that the "love trumps hate" crowd is so abusive, destructive, and hateful.

Maybe he and Pop should travel out to Berkeley and burn down a Starbucks as therapy.

This should have been your first post, and you make some good points. I just think any public figure should be held to higher standards (obviously president more so than others). But if you are a public figure and you shite on the way others act, then I think it is rather funny when you do the same thing you condemn.

Was he wrong?

A coach arguing calls really isn't the same thing. Also, he acknowledged he got what he deserved. It's ok to disagree with him and for him to disagree with you. It isn't really productive to take it personally.

I personally don't care if a coach curses. Maybe if I had kids who watched NBA I would. But Mr. Kerr thinks it is a bad thing, which is the reason I posted this.

I get your point. You think I don't invite different political opinions. But I do. I just don't invite hypocrisy.
