Looks like this will be the year when there is a controversy on who is left out

What Controversy?

Notre Dame lost

Also, playoff expansion won't happen until the current contract runs out.

The controversy was last year with Baylor and TCU

Anarchy next week is required for controversy this year

Conference champs.

This outdated notion of going undefeated was fine for the polls when we had no playoff games...but Ohio State, USC/Stanford winner, Alabama/Florida winner, OU and Clemson should be the playoff.

It's amazing how the SEC said how tough their conference was all these years and yet thte continued to produce undefeated or 1-loss teams.

Pac-12 champ deserves a shot - it has been the best conference all year.

Big10 winner deserves a shot. They won it last year.

If a playoff is really a playoff - why - the old AP voting reliance on going undefeated?

Who gives a shite that you are undefeated if you didn't play anyone?

Seems like Ohio state will nag about being left out this year when IMO they can beat Clemson or bama

The frick?

Stanford and Utah are the ONLY Pac 12 teams in the top 50 in total defense, and they are 36th and 45th respectively.

Total Defense rankings in the PAC-12

36-Stanford
45-Utah
52-Washington
58-UCLA
67-USC
81-Arizona St
96-Cal
109-WASU
111-Colorado
118-Arizona
121-Oregon
123-Oregon St

Stanford lost to Northwestern, WASU lost to Portland St, Utah almost lost to Colorado today, the second worst team in the league. Before this weekend, their biggest OOC win was Utah in a dog fight over Michigan. After that its...Rutgers? Virgina? Texas? San Diego St?

So ND and Michigan. That is it.

There is no "best conference" this year. Everything is muddled. Why? Forced parity through scholarship limitations.

Closest thing to it MIGHT actually be the Big 10.

All I know is. The SEC West became very difficult as the year went on, and the SEC West is the ONLY conference division that finished the year with every team bowl eligible.

Should have beaten MSU and their backup QB.

More controversy last year with how TCU got dropped after winning their last game like 55-3.

I don't think they will expand it until they rotate through all of the bowls that have been promised to host the games.

I'm guessing when the 10 year contract expires, 8.2 year from now

Ohio State lost to Michigan State, they had their shot and they blew it, they're out.

Agreed. Although there have been other years where "the 4 best teams" argument could be made

I haven't seen too much talk about OSU and the playoffs. Maybe next week there will be.

It's a shame that Ohio State didn't get the luxury of an Iowa schedule.

I'm hoping we can sneak in somehow

If things go how most think they will all 4 teams will either be unbeaten or have 1 loss. The Pac-12 Champ will either have 2 or 4 losses. Where is the controversy?

The good thing is even if there is controversy, there's always something that teams 5-8 could've done to guarantee themselves a spot and they didn't.

Gone are the days where a P5 school will go undefeated and get left out.

Iowa won all their games, OSU lost to MSU. Too bad but you had your chance.

Iowa gets MSU next, they'll have the chance to prove their worth on the field.
