How much longer can OSU/MSU live on preseason hype?

Granted neither team has lost a game yet, but they remind me of FSU last year - ranked high because of the previous year's success, but not an elite team.

Obviously the current rankings are irrelevant in the long run, but if you're an AP voter, when do you seriously start to question Ohio State or Michigan State?

I think people keep giving OSU the benefit of a doubt because they return almost everyone

The problem is they're just not playing as well

And maybe they weren't that good and they just got hot at the end of the year

At this point most teams are living on preseason hype.
If I ask you to give me the teams you think should be ranked higher, you will give me teams that have beaten teams that were ranked high....in the preseason.

Basically, just let things play out.

MSU has looked bad in every game they have played including oregon.

I have never, ever seen a defense fall as fast as the spartan d this year. They really miss Narduzzi.

Probably true.

Of course, but I can tell you right now that Purdue and Northern Illinois are not great teams.

I don't get why people care until the committee releases their first set of rankings.

Because there is little to discuss until November.

Is it a big deal? No, of course not.

Has Ohio State and/or Michigan State looked like the #1 and #2 teams in CFB? Hell no.

Yep lost the best linebacker and best corner for the year already. Secondary was already weak. It's not looking good that's for sure. But I'm not gonna melt over 5-0. Oct 17 will sure be interesting

Hell, FSU was barely a top 10 team last year and they made it. MSU at 2 is a joke, though.
