How long until it goes to an 8 team playoff...does anybody really think Ohio St is better than TCU?

Yes. TCU scored 58 points and lost a game and a 4 team playoff is contracted for a while. If you move to 8 teams youll make the same thread about #9.

When it expands people will still complain about teams that get left out, just look at the basketball tourney that takes 68 teams.

4 yrs tops. There's so many shitty bowls now they need to bring back interest in more of them.

3 years. They amended the BCS formula after we won in 2003 due to the strength of schedule component. They will see how much money this makes and add teams. They need to make all the P5 conferences 14-16 teams and take the 5 conference winners and 3 at large teams.

should have started with 6-8 teams. No need to going higher. Anybody arguing for more would have to remember that it would shorten the regular season.

8 teams power 5 conference champs with less than 3 wins. all else at large.

This year

FSU
Oregon
Bama
tOSU
TCo and Baylor doesn't matter who you call champ the other is at large

16 teams has always been the way to go IMO. All conferences will be represented, including mon Power 5 schools.

No kidding, people complain in basketball about teams that don't make the NCAA bracket like they had a chance to start with.

Also true. But a #5/6 team like Baylor, while a serious underdog against Bama, could still get lucky and win it all. And the financial incentives are huge.

My question is how long can the NCAA extend a playoff before players demand real compensation for having to play more games against tough opponents? At a bare minimum, long-term disability insurance. But then that would make them employees instead of "student-athletes".

Said from the beginning on posts throughout the boards that it won't take very long to expand to 8 teams. I would say certainly less than 2 more years. Like someone said, still those with feelings hurt on getting left out but I believe with 8 teams most will be happy.

Screw the non P5 schools. There needs to be two tiers and you only play teams in your tier.

Going to be a couple of years until they change it. This year, 8 would have worked out perfectly with there only being 8 Power 5 schools with 2 or fewer losses.

Leave it to the NCAA to break a broken system. It is and will always be about clout. The Big 12 should boycott all bowl games. It make no difference if OSU is better than TCU. Last week the "committee" puts TCU above OSU. Both teams win their games easily. Why make the change except for the pressure or clout OSU has. The BIG 10 is not better than the BIG 12.

I think that the CFP is not a NCAA Championship, still. In answer to the question, I think an expansion to 8 is most likely. To make it happen soon, there would have to be money for the traditional bowls that they are not getting now. Ultimately it is all about $$$--and making sure Bama gets in.
