Man, reading this thread was satisfying.

SF fans are super sensitive about Kaep.

"You know, it's only been half a season. Let's maybe slow down on the greatest QB of all time talk."
"WHAT! WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED TO SEE?! HE'S THE LEBRON OF FOOTBALL! ONLY SAINTARDS NEED MORE THAN HALF A SEASON TO JUDGE A QB'S FUTURE!"

Yeah I used to respect that guy on here, but he went full-retard on Chip Kelly and new-age QBs this year and that respect is gone.

Don't get me wrong, I like the excitement of these new QBs, but I love me some Andre Luck. He's doing it the way it has always been done, and in a system that has stood the test of time. Don't fix it if it ain't broke.

I just don't get this "pocket passer QB's are going extinct" mentality.

Sure, get a pocket passer who can move like Luck.
But pocket passing isn't going anywhere.

Remember when the Eagles were blowing out the Skins, and everyone was like "New Era NFL?"

We see new wrinkles in NFL offenses all the time, but defensive coordinators always figure it out. What defensive coordinators will never figure out or shut down is an elite pocket passer; someone who can go through all his progressions. Someone who can look at the field presnap and know what that field is going to look like 2-3 seconds later.

Look at the current stats for QB's. Manning and Brees are killing everyone.

The stats are pretty clear at this point.

The ability to scramble is nowhere near as helpful as being able to read a defense, go through the receiving options, and execute.

Edit: And Brees can move a little bit, but Manning is a complete statue.
And Manning is still blowing up.

I think last year, the pistol and read option allowed for receivers to get open quickly. Defenses were biting really hard on the running threat. I said last year that if I was a d-coordinator, I would just assign one guy (most likely a DE or OLB) to the QB, and just tell him to hit him no matter what. Last year teams were playing flat footed against it, and it was killing them.

Out of all the young QB's who can run, I think Wilson will develop into the best of them.

oh god. Some dude started a thread on here about how NFL elitist blowhards were saying how that offense wouldn't work or something, of course he provided no links to give his thread any credibility. Anyway, he was basically saying how he knew all along that the Eagles offense was going to be dynamic.

I think he came on here gloating after that great first half the Eagles had against the Redskins. Forget that the second half was totally opposite and the Redskins almost pulled off a comeback.

while the Eagles offense has been effective, I don't hear anyone giving it credit due to the up tempo style they run. I mean that is where it was supposed to blow the league out of the water... like it was just something we've never seen before.

as for Kaep... well... I do think SF will give the Saints a hard time on Sunday. But it shouldn't be because of him. I watched their game vs. the Panthers the other day. While Carolina has a stifling defense, Kaep wasn't exactly much of a challenge. I mean damn, you can't lead one scoring drive in the second half during a home game? Get the hell out of here.
