How could they let the Big Ten become so unbalanced?

I was looking at the Big Ten divisions and could not believe how unbalanced it is. You have PSU, MSU, Michigan and Ohio State all in one division and then the other side is basically just Wisconsin. Even if you include Nebraska as a “Big 6” team, they still haven’t been relevant for Basically a decade or more depending on your definition of relevant. I know they had the leaders and legends divisions to break it up before but this new east west format is just god awful. I think it may be the most imbalance amongst a conference in the Power 5.

SEC East is a lot better than the division Wisconsin is in.

Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida have all done something in the last 20 years.

If we’re being totally serious, their program isn’t arse. While they haven’t been able to get over the hump for a natty they’re still a respectable program. They’re the only team with a big time brand in that division (again excluding NU because they haven’t done ANYTHING since at least 2009 and before.)

That’s not what he’s saying. He’s saying they’ve actually accomplished things. The Big Ten West outside of Wisconsin and NU is Illinois, Purdue, Iowa, Minnesota and northwestern. Those 5 programs don’t have 1/4 the pedigree of Georgia Florida and Tennessee.

I feel like this is going to turn into another Nebraska thread.

Even with Nebraska winning 8-9 games a year the B10 would be unbalanced.

Should've been divided North-South

North:
UM
Mich St
Wisconsin

South:
Ohio St
Penn St
Nebraska

I think they didn't want to move UM-OSU to earlier in the season and were afraid if they were in other divisions that they could play back to back.

But that’s exactly what they wanted when they split to leaders and legends. They put them both in opposite divisions specifically to allow for a rematch (aka $$$$)

Iowa is an accomplished program. They have had 5 top 10 finishes under Ferentz alone.

Iowa was within an eyelash of causing all you people to melt down because they were one stop away from a BTCCG win and undefeated season two years ago. Would have been in the playoffs.

Wisconsin, Iowa, and Nebraska (who will be back) are all respectable programs in the West.

The problem these days is every program gets called sucky and crappy unless they win a Natty every other year. It's kind of unfair.

What evidence do you have of this?

It's cyclical.

During the Wuerffel/Manning era, the SEC West was arse. Now the East has been bad since Tebow left.

The Big 12 was ridiculously south-heavy after Nebraska, Colorado and K State fell off the map.

shite happens. The reason the B1G East is so good is because the bottom of the division is so bad. The distance between teams 2-5 in the West is minimal. Iowa, Nebraska, Northwestern and Minnesota are basically the same team and same quality.

Wisconsin schedule is easier than a sun belt schedule.

Exactly. Saying Iowa isn't a 1/4 the program of Tennessee is pretty crazy. Tennessee hasn't had a 10 win season in a decade and their last Top 10 finish was almost 20 years ago.

I know that they had 1 NC in 98 and won several in the 50's and 60's but so did MSU and Minnesota.

The SEC is as well. It isn’t as bad as the Big whatever, but it is unbalanced to a degree. They have their reasons for alignment and we have ours.

I agree. The division split was as poorly thought out as the original division names.
