How can the committee not be crushed for the way they are seeding teams?

This is bad, no reason SFA should've been a 14

They have been. Most CBB people I follow on twitter have gone after them like crazy for how they seeded things this year.

Not trying to argue but which are the teams that should be 14 instead of 13 for SFA?

I mean did those teams really have worse profiles in terms of quality wins/losses. . . SFA did lose by 40 points to the only Top50 team they played. . .

Again, not arguing but am curious who was over seeded on the 13 lines?

Would flipping SFA and Stony Brook have had a tangible benefit to the tournament? Was it "unfair" to West Virginia that they played like shite? People like upsets and now that there are more upsets with the expanded fields, people are bitching about seeding? I bet SFA would much rather have played WVU than Kentucky.

At some point it comes down to teams playing on the court,

Does it really matter if a team is seeded a 14 or an 11? That team isn't winning the tournament. In fact I'd rather be the 14 seed beating a 3 seed. The bracket then switches in your favor and you have a chance to make a run.

People like upsets is right. Sure, some of these teams probably deserve a higher seed but a 14 (that should actually be higher) over 3 makes for a great story. How many 5's have to lose to 12's before people figure out the seeding is gamed? Hell, I think more 12's than 5's win anymore.

Vegas has #11 Wichita State
-2.5 point favorite over #3 Miami tomorrow.

When they gave Tulsa a bid, you knew the committee was completely clueless.

Not sure if you were replying to me but I was making pretty much the same point as you.

Not like they were really going to be an 11 or 12 having lost to only Top50 RPI team on their schedule by 40 points.

I would guess you could take any other team from the #13 line and argue back and forth for days over who had the stronger resume with no one really convincing.

You start from the top to bottom in this tournament and it is all over the place seeding wise. It makes no sense.

Yes. SFA is #34 in KenPom and has only lost like 3 regular season games in the last 3 seasons. They are really fricking good.

eta: Sorry looked it up. They are actually 25th in KenPom

That's after tonight I believe if that matters at all and they lost at least 3 regular season games this year but I don't think your point is affected

Ohh okay so the 34 must have been before the tourney then.

The biggest head scratcher for me was Stony Brook being a 13 seed.

What the frick was that?

Yeah which still supports you, obviously. I don't think kenpom should be a final call or anything but it does suck when a team that good gets a 14. Their resume sucked by traditional measures

That's my biggest gripe with the committee. Last year Kansas vs. Wichita state was a crock of absolute shite. Kentucky/Indiana this year seems fishy as well. It really looks like they are manipulating seed lines for match ups

You may mean conference games since they lost 5 games just this year?

I agree that the KenPom metric is pretty good.

However, it can't be the end all determinant and otherwise SFA had a very week resume this year.

They lost to all four RPI Top100 teams they played (and to #240 Tulane) aside from Texas A&M CC, who they beat three times.

I guess I can just see how the committee could look at the 13 seeds (Hawaii, UNC-Wilmington, Iona or Stone Brook) and put them above SFA since each one had a couple of more wins against Top100 opponents, not to mention playing tighter games against some top25 teams instead of one example that's a 40 point blowout loss.

I agree that the committee made some odd seeding choices but am not sure that SFA is really one of them compared to the teams seeded just above them.

Sure wouldn't want to be a 6 seed. They are looking to go 0-4. Lol.
