Technically that combo was Odom/Pau. Bynum was the 3rd wheel to that duo.

I'm saying Jordan was a different beast because he was WAY better than Kobe and was MUCH MORE efficient. Statistically Jordan was a better player. End of story.

The Lakers had 28 points in the paint tonight to the Heat's 68.

A results oriented view of the final score says the Lakers played well, but there's no objective analysis that exists to say giving up 68 in the paint to the Heat is playing well. Process is far more important right now in January, and the process is broken still in my opinion.

Once again...narrowminded basketball mindset. I'm never claimed Kobe was on anyones level. My simple claim is that it is not fair to compare different animals. When you do this..it allows for slanted bias arguments. Kobe plays his role better than Lbj ever could... and vice versa..its a simple fact...Phil Jackson agrees...look it up.

Wait what role does Kobe play better than LBJ. Scoring? Defense? The point I'm making is that LBJ could fill Kobe's role no problem while Kobe couldn't ever start to fill LBJ's.

Comparing different animals would be comparing Shaq to LBJ or CP3 to Dwight.

So you want a category breakdown of what Kobe does better than lebron? Lol what an immature comparison viewpoint. Life isn't a videogame...teams flow based on roles. Once again...with this narrowminded view the only thing Kobe and Mj have on lebron is a midrange fadeaway. There's a reason they have 5 and 6 rings... roles. You've never noticed the lack of continuity that has occasionaly plagued the heat...the lakers are facing that now.

MJ was a better scorer and a better outside defender. Again what role does Kobe play better than LBJ? I'm not having a narrow minded mindset. I understand roles on a basketball team. Hell I'm a basketball coach. Every player has a role to play. What does that have to do with the fact that LBJ is much more efficient. Kobe's role on the Lakers is to score. Well LBJ is more efficient at that. Kobe's role defensively is to guard the other team's best guard. Well LBJ does that but he's more efficient. So again I ask what role does Kobe play that LBJ can't play?

Not true... lebron is a hybrid. Kobes role is a relentless scorer... Mj mindset versus say magic. Both are great...but different. It explains why before they found a role for him on the block as a facilitator against the thunder he stood around and choked against dirk...doesn't matter how talented you are if you don't know your place...he has found it.

I love that you're stressing roles and whatnot over stats and numbers, but then completely disregard Dallas' defensive game plan for the series. It ruins your credibility for me.

Dallas did a wonderful job disguising coverages. They'd play man to man. Then a match up zone for a few plays then switch back to man to man. LeBron was constantly having to figure out what defensive set the Mavs were in, and even when he did he was guarded by a great perimeter defender in Marion and was driving into one of the best rim protectors in the league in Chandler.

But we'll just ignore that because it's more fun to call him a choker, while you praise Kobe for filling the role of chucker.

I understand what your trying to say. The fact is that Kobe is a relentless scorer. The fact is that LBJ is also a relentless scorer but he's more efficient at it. I agree they are different player, but LBJ plays the same role as Kobe. It just so happens LBJ also plays the role of passer and rebounder as well relentless scorer and closer.

Lol your wording...while cute...dismisses everything any Nba analyst would say. I'm guessing you don't coach at the highest level... or you would most likely agree with experts on the subject. Once again...the true stretch of a defense is on your part. Keep in mind I never said Kobe was better than anyone. Id take lebron if I were starting a team..but history is history and Kobe filled a role beautifully. Maybe lebron will get to 5...but I doubt it. He was hurt early on by poor coaching...kobe was lucky to have Phil train him for his role.

You never directly answer any question anyone ask you while we directly address your points. You just dismiss them with ZERO evidence. It's cute. And of course ill never coach at the highest level. That doesn't make my knowledge of the game null and void. Fact is for some unknown reason you are stressing roles but as a coach when you have a guy that fills 3 or 4 roles you love it. Trust me. We won a state championship with a kid a few years ago that led our team is scoring, rebounding, and assist. It makes your team better.

Agreed...Lbj is more talented and an instant winning record...Kobe cant carry a team. His assassin mindset was perfect in combo with the Phil teams he was on.

Absolutely. Kobe was absolutely filthy coming off those backside wide pin downs with Shaq on the block.
