I'll start

quote:

But Father Time remains undefeated, and even though James still dazzles, his hardwood radiance isn’t quite as brilliant as it used to be, particularly as a scorer.

for the pro LeBron camp

quote:

James has been the defining NBA player of the post–Michael Jordan era

quote:

During the postseason, James has outscored everyone except Blake Griffin within 8 feet of the basket.

New and young team; first year coach. A decrease was not unexpected, and it's a single data point. It may be the start of a trend but it also may be an outlier; no way of knowing at his time. Even with a significant drop his FG% was very good.

One of the core tenets of basketball analytics is that increased usage generally leads to decreased efficiency

quote:

It’s almost fitting. LeBron came back to Ohio and turned into a factory.

quote:

That Olajuwon skill set may come in very handy in the coming years. When it comes to getting good looks in the paint, James may not be able to bull past multiple defenders on dribble drives like he used to, but there’s no reason he can’t beat up opponents on the left block over and over again. Just ask Jimmy Butler.

Been wondering this for quite sometime, what's he going to look like post athleticism? His jumper isn't a great one. He lost all that weight to play the 3 again, when really it's time for him to go full Karl Malone.

It's an interesting look, but interpreting it as a "certain" sign of a decline is just a hasty extrapolation based on limited data during a transition year.

New team new coach new players.
Ball in his hands lot more.
He will figure it out.
And that's the crazy part. With all that said. His off year or worst year since 07 or 08 was 4th best in MVP voting and 5 games away from another finals return

He's one of the most athletic guys in the league still, why would he wasn't too turn into a guy that can only pass, hit the step back j, and jump hook?

Never go full retard

I've heard several people talk about a decline in his athleticism, but I just don't see it. He looks like the same player he did 5 years ago to me. The general lack of efficiency can be largely attributed to adapting to a new roster, coach, and scheme.

So LeBron sucks and he's still the greatest player in the Milky Way Galaxy by a wide margin. I'll take it.

So LeBron's FG% is as low as it was in 2008-2009, a year in which he won the MVP and had the 4th highest PER of all-time.

What is this thread about?

This thread is about how Ron would take Larry Bird over LeBron James.

Not really, this thread is about an article written by one of the best in biz talking about LeBron James game both positively and negatively...but I forget if you were the one that said Larry wouldn't start in today's NBA or that Curry is better than Larry Legend...but whatever

His FG% at the rim is down considerably.

I'm wondering as well. He doesn't have the mid range shooting or handle that MJ and Kobe had. The cuter he gets, the more his game suffers IMO. I think he'll have a much harder transition as he gets older than Kobe and MJ had.
