Mike The Tiger is a totally different situation. There really is no reason to be offended by a Tiger living in a multi-million dollar facility with some of the best veterinary care in the country.

Theres no reason to all of a sudden be offended by a nickname a team has used for decades either.

I don't think they're "all of a sudden" getting mad about it. These talks have been going on for years

Disney used to use "Black Face" in their movies. They "all of a sudden" changed it. Why? Because social attitudes have changed and should change.

Just beating it into the ground about how the name should be changed, and that you are a piece of shite if you don't think it should. Sounding like uptight New York elitist prick hipsters

Other than that, Deadspin still rules

I really want people to start being racist to white men. I want to get on this being offended bandwagon it seems fun and you can pull that card for almost everything

Deadspin can tend to do that sometimes. Every now and then when an issue comes up they like to throw in a liberal twist to it. I seem to remember them bashing Chris Broussard for saying he was against gay marriage, which was bullshite IMO

The thing about the nickname is this...If you didn't have these groups that brought up what the name really means, people in this day and age wouldn't have a fricking clue that it was derogatory at one point. They would just see it as the Washington Redskins, football team in DC with RG3, The End

Yeah, I just ignore those types of articles that will have a liberal spin in it...I just know it will have something that will aggravate me

yep. I never had any idea that this was a derogatory term. I still don't know the context in which it was used to be deemed racist

Yeah the Chris Broussard one really pissed me off. I actually gained respect for the guy after that. And their whole article was bashing him about how close minded he is, and how he's a terrible sportswriter because of it. It was all bullshite

That's kind of a silly argument IMO. Especially if the groups bringing it up are Native Americans that are offended by it. If they don't care, let the Redskins keep there name. But if they are actually taking offense to it, the Redskins should change it
