You're chunking it b/c when you are trying to "ease up" you're actually decelerating your club. It's a very common mistake, easily corrected by remembering to accelerate through the shot. If it's a shot with a shorter distance just take a shorter backswing and accelerate through the shot. Problem solved.
Learning to score with your 52* and 56* is a lot more beneficial for your game than learning high risk shots, above a 5 handicap (usually). That's what I was trying to get at
