Golf Channel just showed Donald Trump returning to Rory the 3 iron he threw in the lake on Friday.

One of the talking heads said McIlroy played yesterday (Saturday) with only 13 clubs.

Why wouldn't McIlroy have been allowed to replace his 3 iron on Saturday so he could carry the permissible 14 clubs?

Surely you can replace a club (lost, broken or discarded) at the conclusion of your round before you begin the next round, can't you?

You can. That is weird. Nike must have been slacking. It's also possible let that he just wasn't in a hurry because he didn't want to use the three iron from there again any way.

TGC said yesterday that Nike made a replacement and sent it overnight to Doral. I can't tell you why it wasn't in the bag.

ETA: Here's a link to a TGC web site article that gives more info.

Yeah. I'm sure it wasn't slacking on Nikes part. He probably just didn't feel like putting a new club in his bag mid-tournament.

Trump returning the club to Rory on the range was pretty funny. The Donald had to get in on this somehow. Said they'll probably mount it in the clubhouse somewhere. I think they need to put it on a bench or something on the 8th hole.
