So I WAS the proud owner of two pretty good drivers.

Adams Speedline F11

Ping G15

The Adams was my go to driver until I snapped the shaft today at the hosel. Luckily it was hanging by a thread and fell off in my hand after the shot instead of flinging it 100 yards into the woods. It had an Aldila Voodoo stiff. It was about 15 yards longer than the Ping, but less forgiving.

So I quit after 9, but got a call from a guy wanting to play. So I grabbed the G15 and went back to the course. I had planned to sell both of these and buy a G20 with an upgraded shaft, but I had forgotten how stupid easy the G15 is to hit, but the stock stiff shaft apparently doesn't fit me. Ball flight a little high and I get no roll.

So you fine people get to suggest shafts. I want something that has a low launch that will give me a good roll. I don't know what my launch angle is, or even if that matters, but clubhead speed hangs around 110.

O, and I contacted Adams. They're going to replace it, but I think re-shafting the G15 is the way to go, or upgrading to a G20 with a legit shaft. So if anybody wants an F11, give me about a month and I'll sell it.

tl;dr

man, this must have been a defect with this club. Remember me saying this happened to mine a few months ago?

110 club head speed, but I would need to see you swing for tempo purposes. In order to really make a good shaft flex recommendation.

ETA: Launch angle is really important IMO. It changes though based on kick point, etc.

It's a defect in the club. I had mine sent back by our pro shop. They replaced it no questions asked. Free of charge. Sent it back with a powder coated shaft that I honestly like better than the original.

I have a Diablo Edge, stiff, 9 degree loft. Got it thinking I could get more roll. Not really seeing it. Gonna trade it in on a Burner 3.0. I'll look in to that G20.

No clue what kind of shaft I have, I went to dicks and hit a few different ones until I found one I really liked, slightly less distance but way more accurate. All I know is it's a stiff shaft

Get fitted for one...no one is going to be able to give you an accurate measurement without seeing your numbers.

I have a project x shaft

Fairly low launching, definitely lower than the fubuki it replaced

Look into the RIP alpha, it's a decent lower launching shaft that isnt crazy expensive.

Yeah, and we both bought the driver with a free 3 wood thing. As soon as I broke it I thought son of a bitch this must be a bunch of bad eggs they were trying to get rid of.

I have pretty good tempo from what others tell me. That seems to be the consensus from pretty much every body I've played with. I didn't play sports in high school, so every time I play with somebody that is around my age that I went to hs with, they're all like damn, you have a really smooth swing.

I remember seeing the monitor when I was hitting the F11, but I really can't remember the launch angles. Didn't really know to pay attention to it.

Yeah, I'm definitely going to get fitted. I was just looking for suggestions so I can get an idea of what I'll be dealing with. I can't stand going into something not knowing shite about it, and shafts are never really something I paid attention to.

They actually have a 3.0 line. I think they're sold exclusively at Dicks.

It's tough to make recommendations without knowing your numbers. Mainly in terms of Launch Angle, Spin rates with some other shafts that you have tried. It would really help if you went somewhere and hit the RIP shaft that comes in the Titleist 910's, then hit the Ahina that comes in them as well, and show us what your numbers did between the two. That may not be convenient for you, but doing something like that would help out a ton.

If you're hitting what you currently have high, you're going to hit this really high as well IMO.

Okay, how much difference in the ball flight should there be between a 9.5 and 10.5 degree drivers? Is it that big of a difference, or is the shaft more important? The Adams is 9.5, the Ping is 10.5 and there is a very noticeable difference.

The degree of loft affects the backspin the most. Shaft helps control the spin. It's kind of complicating, but usually the more vertical you're onto the ball, the lower the loft you're going to need. If you're flatter in the downswing, a higher loft may give you better performance. It's hard to make a general statement on what a 9.5 or 10.5 would do, without seeing your vertical angle onto the ball.

That actually helped me understand a little. I'm more vertical. I tried to go flatter, but ball striking was inconsistent and draws turned into hooks and fades turned into slices. When I got away from that, I hit way more crisp shots. They may not be going where I want them every time, but they're going to get there with some aggression.

Knowing that now, I'll probably go ahead and get a lower lofted G20 with a legit shaft, and sell the G15 and repaired F11. Thanks man

I just got fitted using a Doppler launch monitor and it's amazing the details it gives you. I will never buy another driver without getting fitted. I always bought a stiff 8.5 degree and the fitter put me in an xstiff .75 flat at 7.75 degrees tipped 1 inch. It's a Titleist D3 and took exactly one week to come in. I love it!
