Just moved to the Northshore and looking for advice... Best cheap and quick driving range options? Best CC to join? Club repair and club builders?
Thanks in advance!

Covington Country Club and Abita Springs golf course are public.

Covington isn't a bad track.
I walk it a lot.
Greens roll well.
Maintained nicely.

Does either Cov CC or Abita have a driving range to use for the public while I decide where to join?

How's Money Hill for family/non-golf activities? I was a member at Oakbourne for the last few years...

It's a stuffy old crowd, but they'll have a pool, grill, range, etc.
Everything you had at Oakbourne.

You think Beau Chene would be better for a younger family?

Uh...... Are you gonna live in mandeville/Covington long?

BC or money hill are your best options.
Check them out and see what you prefer. If you're in Covington, MH may be closer.

Appreciate the feedback... Just trying to get some info before I start calling around.
Is there a decent driving range open to the public anywhere? Maybe with chipping/putting green as well?

All that will be private.

I know Abita has a driving range.
Slidell has Royale Gardens and Pinewood. Also Oak Harbor, which I prefer.

You may also look at tchefuncte.

He won't be close to oak harbor. Royal maybe, but it's not that great.

I'll have to see but I'm guessing Money Hill and Beau are the same distance from me... Glad to know I can take some swings at Abita in the meantime...
Anyone in this thread playing Northshore golf regularly? Wouldn't mind hooking up with a new game as well.

Abita has a range, is public but is a goat ranch. Covington is better, no range though. Twilight at Covington is a good deal. Money Hill is nice but like someone said earlier the crowd is old and stuffy. Had a few friends leave there recently because of that. Played beau chene recently and it was a pretty good course. Last time I talked to tchefuncte they wanted a 10,000 initiation fee. None of these places are going to blow you away.

Beau Chene has two courses as well. I enjoyed both

Sounds like I'll be biding my time at Abita Goat Farm while deciding between golf course quality (Money Hill) and full experience (Beau). Really appreciate everyone's thoughts on it.
