One of our reps is retiring after 25 years with the company.

Guy is a big golfer and a couple of us want to go in and get him a top of the line golf bag. I'm looking at several top reviewed ones on Amazon (that are pretty decently priced).

Any input is appreciated.

Does he walk when he plays or does he ride a golf cart. If he is not a walker, get him a cart bag.

There are a lot of great bags, maybe get him a cart bag with his favorite team logo on it.

Get a staff bag with his name embroidered on it. If you go this route I can help you find how to go about it.

Get him a cart bag with either his name or favorite team on it. Probably his name.

ETA: Check golfballs.com, they have a shitload of bags and do the embroidery.

Like others have said, try to find out if he's a walker or a cart guy. Or, find out what kind of bag he has currently.

Is he older? Most older golfers prefer the cart bag or staff.

You can eliminate the staff bag if he likes to walk.

If you can't find anything and just need a shot in the dark, I'd recommend a nice, full-sized stand bag.

Cart Bag

Stand Bag

Staff Bag

Stand bags are what everyday golfers use. It would be the most usable, but the least unique. Not really a going away gift idea, but he would be able to use it more.

Cart bags are exactly what their name implies, cart bags. They aren't meant to carry, offer a little more room in the bag, and would be both unique and usable.

Staff bags are what the pros use. If your boss is a good golfer, I would get this for him with his name embroidered on it. Not as usable (heavy and bulky), but it can still fit on a cart for him to play with, or he could display it in his home or office. The most unique. I would recommend doing this for the situation you described.

This is a good idea. It would also help to find out if he has a particular brand of clubs he likes and get the their staff bag.

gift certificate

I say this b/c I wouldn't want anyone to choose anything I golf with, golfers are picky.

It's like sending your wife to buy a .270 for an avid deer hunter

1. What kind of clubs does he have? If Titleist get a Titleist bag and so on.

2. Walk or Ride? Very important. If there is any doubt get a mid sized walking bag.

You might consider a gift cert to edwin watts or something. Golf is very much a individual type sport. Lots of good bags but individuals have different opinions on the best.
