Why does this guy get so much attention after a mediocre performance in the NCG? ESPN is expecting him to lead the Longhorns to another Big 12 title and a BCS bowl game and I can't see how they have evidence to support that. This season, I would take JJ over GG in a heartbeat (go ahead and rip me to shreds for that comment). It seems like Texas is becoming more of a Ohio St/USC media darling every year

For a freshman to be put in that situation against a great defense I thought he performed pretty well.

Agreed. Considering he hadn't played much all year and is thrown into the NC game, once he got some snaps under him, he played fairly well.

He made easy throws to Shipley who got open over the middle of the field... I could throw to Shipley because all you have to do is put in in his vicinity and he'll go get it.

Let's put what he did in perspective. J. Lee came into the APP. ST game knowing he was going to be the starter for a few months and sucked it up. Garret Gilbert came into the BIGGEST game in college football, no real previous experience, and did farely well. This guy was expecting to be watching the game with headphones and a hat, and then in the first quarter he has to go face the number one ranked defense. I'm not saying he's the next coming of jesus, but the guy deserves some praise for what he did.

playing "decent" in one game does not mean you will lead a team through the big 12

Don't ever compare Jarrett Lee to another major colleges QB.

This. He was understandably shaky at first, but he settled in pretty well, all things considered.

I agree with that. I don't think he was bad but I don't think anybody has reasonable evidence to say that he will lead Texas back to the BCS this season.

The reasoning is that Oklahoma is minus a Sam Bradford and still without an O-Line. I don't see anyone else in the Big 12 South that can stand in Texas's path.

I think your right for the most part. At TTech (rebuilding), at Nebraska, OK ST at home, T A&M, and the Red River Shootout is the bulk of their schedule... This is the one thing i hate about playing in the SEC

They are in the running every year, don't see why they wouldn't again this year. OU may be decent with Landry getting plenty of work. But UT is loaded again, so they will always compete.

Gilbert is a TEXAS QB. He'll get hype just for that.

I think people would be talking about Jefferson a little bit differntly if he hadn't got KO in the Bama game. We might not have won just because our run game was never any good, but Jefferson was playing well that day against a good defense. He would have put up some good numbers I think if he had kept playing.

I just made this into a thread about LSU. Keep it on the rant.

This statement loses any chance of credibility you had.
