Fowler as main PBP guy- underwhelming for anyone else?

he's fine and unoffensive but does he lack any sort of gravitas for you guys?
There's nothing defining to his game calling. It's like he could do this for 20 years and I don't think I'd miss him when he stopped.

I get what you're saying. I felt that way his first year but I've gotten used to him.

I agree, I don't dislike him but it's very meh. I loved him on game day and on tennis.

could be as simple as his voice.
Jackson, Michaels, Lundquist etc all had super distinctive voices.

Lacks the distinctive voice (literally and figuratively) of Keith Jackson, Brent Musburger and even Verne Lundquist.

I always feel like he is a debbie downer.

He's not great but the chemistry between him and Herbie make it still pretty good.

Agreed on the voice. Plus he was on Gameday forever. We're just used to him doing that.

He's definitely leaves the driver in the bag and just keeps it in the fairway. Nothing wrong with that.

He sucks.
We want Brent back.

I wanna watch a bunch of rascals scurry around.

There's nothing outstanding about him either positively or negatively. He just is. Which I suppose isn't a bad thing.

I want Palmer and Tessitore (sp?). Easily the best.

I'd rather have Mick Jagger call it tonight as much as I've heard Gimme Shelter.

He lacks the ability to set and capture the mood of a big event. The great ones have it.
He's a great studio guy. I don't think you can just move a great studio guy into the booth mid-career.

That's part of it.
For me I think it was strange because I grew up with him as the gameday guy, and now he's the premiere PBP guy for ESPN. Of course who knows, in 10 years maybe we'll think of him like Musberger or Jackson.

I think this is it.
It's very straightforward and factual. No painting of a larger picture, or words as imagery.

They are as big a Clemson homers as Verne and Gary are for Bama.

I rather him than Brent "2nd Chance" Musberger
