Great read on former NFL QB John Kitna. It's long but worth it.

After a long and difficult day of teaching this was a great motivating read I really appreciate the post.

I'm only halfway through the article, and I have to stop for a second just to say Kitna is the fricking man. I never knew much about him besides watching him play in Cincy/Detroit/Dallas, but I have a world of respect for the guy now.

Yes, great story. I really liked Kitna when he played in Cincinnati. He was classy then, and wanting to take on working at the school is just awesome. We need more professional athletes like him.

One of my best friends is a History teacher/Soccer coach at an impoverished Middle School in St. Bernard. He obviously doesn't have the resources Kitna has, but it's amazing to see what extracurricular activities like sports (with someone leading who cares and really puts in the effort), can do the improve the quality of life for kids like these.

I was reading it and I was like "Are they sure this is Jon Kitna the QB?" I have so much respect for people that go above and beyond to enrich people's lives.

Wish there were more Jon Kitnas around, and fewer parents who don't give a f*ck.
