If stadiums dont sell out to their quota then you have a potential black out. The team either has to buy the tickets and eat them or lose a broadcast and the revenue. The NFL is going to have a busy damage control week ahead of them.

In most markets, the tickets are already sold and have wait lists. Doesn't matter if the butts aren't in the seats. And somebody will buy your tickets next year.

If only it worked like that..

It kinda works the other way around

It does work that way.

And for those "thousands" of US fans who boycott for a few weeks, they're gaining millions of fans in Mexico, Europe and China.

And they don't give a flying frick about "disrespecting our country."

Yeah entertainments are luxuries that you don't "need". Doesn't mean there isn't a demand for them, and in monolopolies like the NFL as long as the demand is high, they can make the rules.

watching or not watching isn't important

It's boycotting sponsors that matters

If you do one thing, stop buying A-B beer. In the NFL it's beer commercials that pay the freight

If no one watches the games it is pointless for those brands to advertise and pay the NFL for spots on the game. Lose viewers ( tickets and tv ) lose sponsors, NFL loses money. People still buy beer, use credit cards and cell phones

I was at my sons football game earlier and everyone I talked to was irritated by what's going on and everyone of them said they just didn't care to watch the games at this time.. these aren't hillbillies but the exact crowd I see the league losing.. professionals who are just sick of the bullshite.. we watch football to drown out the noise of life not to have it constantly brought up and shoved in our face.. this isn't about either side of the issue but the unnecessary and continued attention it gathers..

That's a lot of shite to keep up with because you don't like an athlete exercising his constitutional rights.

I mean, do you really want to punish people for choosing not to fire their own employees? How is that an American attitude?

I keep hearing people say oh I am not going to watch but everyone with a local team they cheer for is still turning on the TV.

You mean a good American attitude is to support people bashing America?

To be fair, the NFL changed their policies on commercials because the fans bitched.

I was driving from Witchita to Baton Rouge today and literally the first quarter of every radio broadcast was about who stood and who sat. I don't care of people kneel, stand, dance, make faces, or reenact the Gettysburg Address on the sideline, but my god the media is just eating this shite up and stirring the pot as hard as they can.

It's the same freedom of expression that allows the players to kneel without government sanction, and allows the NFL to forbid expression it disagrees with (like honoring fallen police officers). The NFL has the right to condone or forbid disrespecting the anthem. Advertisers have the right to disassociate with the NFL if they don't care for how the NFL handles the issue. Fans have the right to boycott the NFL and its sponsors if they feel strongly enough about the players' antics.

Meh. I'm watching regardless.

Because I like football.

Just like I watch movies even though I disagree with the politics of most of the actors/actresses.

When it comes to entertainment, I only GAF about my own entertainment.

I've been boycotting McDonald's and Papa John's for about a quarter century and Pepsi since birth so I'm doing my part.
