I just figured I would throw this out there for the hell of it.

I just got an email from Trinity Hall (very nice Irish pub located at Mockingbird Station and my home pub for football/soccer-watching):

quote:

Trinity Hall has been a soccer pub for a number of years, from our first Glasgow Celtic Chapter, to the loyal Reds & Gunners, but never have we had the opportunity to have a Manager & players from one of the UK's top soccer clubs come to visit. That is until this week!

Carlo Ancelotti was appointed Manager of FC Chelsea on July 1st, directly before the team flew out to the USA for the World Club Championship exhibition matches. Mr Ancelotti is played for Italy's national team in 2 World Cups, 26 different matches, has won the European Championship both as a player and a manager, and now leads one of the biggest teams in Europe. (Last night his team took on Inter-Milan home of ex-Chelsea Coach & "Special One" Jose Mourinho and left them scoreless and defeated in FC Chelsea's wake!)

Mr Ancelotti will be bringing a couple of players along on Saturday afternoon to visit with us at Trinity Hall Irish Pub, and because we expect a huge turnout for the visit, we will be hosting the Q&A event in Chaucers next door, with video link back to the Pub's TV's & Screen.

This is a free event, open to any fan of the sport, Chelsea or no, and an opportunity to meet both a true leader of the game and players that have made it to the very top of the sport!

The event is hosted on behalf of Grassroots Soccer & Right to Play, both are key humanitarian organizations that help children and youth throughout the world through Soccer & Sports. There is no cost to attend or tickets to buy, but we will solicit donations on behalf of these two deserving causes. Raffle Tickets for Chelseas's brand new 2009-10 Season jerseys, we'll have both home and away shirts as prizes - along with other small items. If you are lucky enough to win you may even get it autographed!

I doubt the couple of players present will be Drogba or Lampard or Terry...but what the hell...

The date and time are this Saturday (25th) at 4:00 PM.

Your opinion. You're welcome to it.

Whether you like it or not, Trinity Hall is nowhere near a dump. The Loon is a dump (though I love it). Trinity is actually quite nice.

Let me add - SON OF A BITCH. I'm flying out of Dallas on Friday night. This sucks.

Yeah...the criticism I usually hear about Trinity Hall is that it's NOT a dump (i.e. a bit pricey). And, we agree on The Loon.

Too bad about your traveling schedule. I'm far from a Chelsea fan (as far as the distance from Chelsea to Highbury), but I'm thinking of making it out there Saturday.

I might go just on the hopes that Drogba will be there so I can challenge him to a fight.

Mstreet, you going to the game sunday?

There must be some definition of "dump" that I'm unaware of...

Anyway, that would be a great event to attend.

Yeah. Looks like seats are available after doing some googling. Very top rows start at $45. $60 to $80 as you get closer to the pitch, but all of those are in the corners.

I'll have to think about it tonight.
