Just happened in the Cal/USC game, USC tried a FG on 1st down and the snap was bad, place holder fell on it and they tried again on 2nd down. They did miss, but still...

Pretty sure they kicked it because there was 6 seconds left, not because of the down.

But yeah.

It kinda worked in the BYU vs Boise State game last week, little time left and BYU tried to kick it. It was blocked but BYU recovered now out of FG range so they had a chance at a hell Mary that they didn't convert

You are dumb. If the the ball.is kicked and blocked and the kicking team recovers they don't get to kick again. It's change of possession. The only way they would get it back would be the team who blocked it picked it up and ran with it and then fumbled it back to them.

Actually if the ball is blocked and does not cross the line of scrimmage it is treated as a fumble and either team can advance the ball.

So if you kick on 3rd down it is blocked and it does not cross the line of scrimmage then the kicking team can recover the "fumble" and kick again on the next down

This is correct. In 2009 Iowa ended a game against the UNI on two consecutive blocked kicks. The first blocked kick never went past the LOS.

It's more for a bad snap than a blocked kick.

This is exactly why you kick those on 3rd down.

Iowa was the first team to ever block 2 FG on consecutive plays IIRC. As long as it does not go across the LOS it is a fumble, defense can advance but offense can not. The weird part was Iowa finished 7th in final poll that year also I believe.

In reality its almost always the correct call because 1) most of the FGs are chip shots, and 2) most of the time the snap is fine. Also we don't notice because most of time teams in this situation either run a play solely to get the ball to desired spot for the kicker and then purposely run the clock down instead of taking an extra play or two to go for the end zone. Of course occasionally you have craziness like what happened Sunday night.

Boy, I bet you feel stupid. I love when someone comes out guns blazing and then gets fed a giant shite sandwich in the form of the correct answer.
