The Windmill known as Adam Dunn should pay any fines or fees associated with his arrest as gesture of thanks for retrieving the ball for him.

The arresting officers should think more about the spirit of the law than the letter of the law.

If this is the only retort you have, you obviously did not grasp the the sentence you quoted.

My point was that the "arresting officers" didn't have a choice to interpret the "spirit" or letter of the law.

The Royals charge anyone that offense. Putting it on the officers to follow the spirit is stupid. If you have problem with what happened take it up with the Royals not THe police

Pretty heavy ideas for a situation involving a man trespassing to catch a ball.

A man trespassing for a ball....if we all.acted as one then an arrest would seem stupid.....a minor thing blown up by seperation

Apparently for some people it's entirely too much to ask that you empower people to use their logic and treat each situation individually instead of blindly following a blanket policy.

So what do you think happens to the officers involved if they had just ignored their job, the rules, and just let this guy go?

You think they go to work Monday and their boss says nothing?

If you don't like the rule or think the Royals shouldnt press charges fine. The officers didn't have the ability to make the decision to just let him go. That was a decision above their pay grade.

Take that nonsense somewhere else. You think the officers should have risked their jobs to let a guy who is facing a fine?

I said government has become a machine when it use to be part of a community. When it was part of a community they wouldn't have lost their.jobs for using their common sense. Now as a machine they have no choice.

Your belief isn't a personal attack we just happen to disagree

No you just want to get on a soap box and make some grand statement about society and government while not addressing any of the specific facts/consequences of this particular situation.

Like I said take that nonsense somewhere else like the poli board

If the specific facts of this situation were considered, the person would not have been arrested.

It was not an arbitrary decision.

There was a posted notice.

The stadium ownership is pressing the charges as the fan trespassed.

just think about why the stadium would not want people jumping into the fountain for a second, and stop always blaming cops for arrests.
