He's basically playing baseball all season. Besides postseason after being eliminated, when would he watch? I can even see not watching that either

I'd venture to say a large amount of pro athletes don't watch their own sport. Why would they? They live the shite year-round.

Kind of the opposite of him, like to cook and I also watch/ listen to/keep up with probably 120+ MLB games a year.

It's somewhat common for professional soccer players to watch other soccer matches.

Some reporter once asked Harrison Ford if he watched his own movies and he said no.

And then she said, "not even for enjoyment?"

And he laughed and said: "for enjoyment?"

Athletes are playing the game and making the game...

Why would they watch it. Did people on here watch H.S. football games you WEREN"T playing in? Doubtful. You practiced and played for your own team - you had enough football going on...who the frick is going to go watch a game a H.S. game on Saturday after they played one on Friday night? (unless you were trying to meet a girl.)

Are we really comparing these two?

One guy plays 162 games in 180 days.

The other doesn't.

You tell me which one is more likely to grab a beer and flip on a rival's game.

I was responding to someone saying pro athletes don't typically watch other games of their sport and I threw that out there as a comparison.

Regardless, if you're a top soccer player you're probably playing 60+ matches w/ your club and that's not counting international games w/ the country.

Clearly baseball is more compact in time w/ more games, but it's not like soccer is 20 games a year w/ a six month layoff in between games.

I see a lot of athletes on twitter commenting on other big games of their own sport. I think more are watching than realized.

But he is playing when most of the other games are on

Soccer games seem to be on all the time - do they have an offseason?

I think when it gets closer to the playoffs or if a player is doing something amazing more will time in. But most probably don't care what is happening early or mid year

Considering most schools play at the same time on the same days I doubt it

Pro Clubs have an offseason

But then the best players play for their national team in qualifiers and tournaments

I've heard a number of sports commentators say that they have to think about sports so much at work they avoid it it as much as possible at home
