LAC won first two games by 20. Blowouts. No one who follows NBA outside of PDX will say that PDX were gonna win that series. that's silly. I know you're a fan and will take up for your team. But come on man. It's like me saying CC would have beat GSW 2 years ago if motiejunas and Beverly werent hurt. Silly I'm sure you would agree.

20pt blowout or 1pt win, it goes down the same in the win column. Without getting into, Portland won the series.

They didn't really have a good roster last year.

It was the same roster from the year before except you added a top 5 PG in Lawson :lol;

Wait, I thought the roster wasn't that good?

Portland has a nice squad but they are right at the luxury tax and they have no chance to contend ffor the time being. Puzzling and a bit upsetting tbh.

Except they're not at the luxury tax. Nobody said they're winning any titles. Name of the game is acquiring assets (you being a Rockets fan should know this) whether they're slightly overpaid
or not, an asset has value.

CC had no PF last season. No bench scoring. Brewer sucked. Lawson sucked. Jones sucked. Etc. etc. D12 was a top 3 rebounder yet CC was dead last in defensive rebounding. If Howard wasn't getting the rebound. No one was. If morey lays an egg like he did last season. He will be shown the door. If CC wasn't the third winningest franchise since he has been at HOU he would have been shown the door this offseason.

Yea you won the series, congrats? Nah not IMO. all it did was give you mgmt a false sense of hey this team can compete now that will hurt long term. They think they are close to competing but reality is no they aren't even close.

K? I never asked about roster construction. Just that same team was in the conference finals the year before. You tried pimping their injuries in the same post you said the roster wasn't good. Which is it?

What did Olshey do that made the team worse off for the future wise one?

Lost a bit much Flexibility for my liking.

No I said It would be silly to point to the injuries as a reason they lost. Just like it would be silly to say that PDX woulda beat LAC without those injuries. If you wanna be part of the 1% who actually believes that they would've won suit yourself. Be you. It's good to have a Blazers homer around bc I am a fan myself.

Isn't the point of having flexibility to do something with that flexibility? Should they have signed Etwaun Moore or Eric Gordon instead of Turner just because is saves them a few bucks even though they're getting a lesser player? Lester posted somewhere on here Evan Turner's post all star break numbers and they're impressive. Boston started to use Turner as a facilitator in their offense and he did very well.

They gain more flexibility IMO by signing Crabbe too. It's a valuable trade chip.

Well they coulda saved some of that for next years FA class and paid players who are better than crabbe and harmless. Crabbe isn't a trade chip. it was unanimous league wide that they over paid him why would another team want to take him on at that salary anytime soon?

Harkless isn't even a Blazer (yet). And you call yourself a fan.

There's plenty of teams that want Crabbe's services. He's better than Eric Gordon too fwiw. Think he's too expensive to keep long term, but we'll see plenty of this lineup:

LILLARD
CJ
Crabbe
Turner
Ezeli/Plumlee

Also look for Turner to get his 3% back to 30%. Look at what Stotts has done with players. He's coached up a lot of guys confidence in their shots. Turner will be a better shooter for the same reasons Aminu got better once he got to PDX.

I think it's time to let this thread die or get back to its topic.

Do you think Minnisota has a good shot at 50 wins this season? I see you have them at 8. That must mean you see them at least around 46-48, right?

8 seed got in with 41 wins last year. The west is worse than last year.

You think the West repeats it's performance against the East?

He's no Eric Gordon that's silly. They're both basically shooters and that's it. But Gordon is better at it.

i think the east should improve by a few games. Some once formidable playoff teams are aging like Dallas and Memphis.

There are no real up and coming teams besides Minnesota in my eyes. Utah maybe, but they are being overrated a bit.

Pels would be 3rd worst team in the east. After Davis and holiday from player #3 on down I can't find a team in the whole league with less talent other than Brooklyn. They're gonna be really really bad this season. Then you've got SAC, PHX, and LAL who will be stinking it up too.

Who did Memphis add and lose this off-season?

Added Parsons, Troy Daniels, James Ennis, Andrew Harrison, Wade Baldwin, and Deyonta Davis.

Notable losses (since they used 30 players last season): Matt Barnes, Lance Stephenson, and Mario Chalmers

Plus you obviously have the coaching change.

Really think they are going to end up trying to bring back Chalmers or some other veteran back up PG. Can't see them relying on two rookie PG's to back up Conley.

Also really think they will make some sort of big for small trade down the road. They need more help on the wings if they really want to play Parsons a bunch at the 4.

quote:

Whose got injury issues?

Conley got shut down early last season, Gasol had the foot surgery, Parson's knees, and Brandon Wright missed basically all off last season.

Hopefully the new coach moves Randolph to the bench and goes uptempo with parsons and Conley they could be an entertaining team.
