These are good for breaking news. And for that reason I keep it and don't cancel it.

BUT HOLY shite.

It has been terrible recently. I feel like I get 4 "alerts" a night about shite I, and what I would think 90% of the population don't give a shite about.

I don't care how many points Carmelo has. I don't care what women's teams made it to the final four etc etc.

I finally cancelled for a different reason. They assumed I didn't follow sports. I would get texts telling me to watch the BCS National Championship game and shite.

I do. But it's much simpler to get a text rather than having to check twitter.especially when busy

But how else would you know Mark Cuban said he would draft Greiner in the 2nd round?

Or that the uconn person said it'd be a sham for Greiner to attempt to play in the nBA?

ORR HOW WOULD YOU KNOW MARK CUBAN RESPONDED BY SAYING ITS TERRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICE TO NOT KEEP AN OPEN MIND.

I fricking hate ESPN too but keep the texts just in case.

If you have a smart phone why would you even use text alerts? My alerts pop up on my status bar and scroll across, no sound or anything. If I'm interested I read if not it disappears.

Plus you can change the settings of what gets sent to you.

The Carmelo thing the last 2 nights have annoyed me but then again I liked that they sent me the Yu Darvish going for a perfect game msg so I guess can't have it both ways

I noticed this too... I thought it was just me. It seems like I've gotten more of them lately and about stupid crap that I don't care about.

The Yu Darvish perfect game alert was about the only legit one.

They sent several about college basketball coaches getting hired and fired, a different one for every women's basketball team who made the final four, Carmelo scoring 50 points, another one about Carmelo scoring 40 points, and a bunch of other useless crap.

Yeah they are going way overboard. The fricked up thing is they won't let me change my settings. I click the link to edit my preferences and it just refreshes the page I was on.
