quote:

Campus of @espn has often been place of pride, achievement & tons of psychic income for many, but this week's layoffs will be tough for all.

Make no mistake, today's announcement of layoffs at @espn speak directly to significant changes in what they do and how they do it.

John Skipper has just sent memo to all @espn employees. Layoffs announced today. Around 50 names you will recognize; another 50 you may not.

Driving force behind today's decision is different approach to @SportsCenter with increased emphasis on digital presence. #ESPN

Hearing now from several @espn employees who, despite advanced word, are "in shock" and "frozen." This is an awful day for all in Bristol.

The guy who tweeted it wrote the book "Those Guys Have All the Fun: Inside the World of ESPN" and has a ton of connections in the company.

Everybody hates ESPN pundits and rightly so but their ridiculous NFL and NBA contracts are the main culprits for why ESPN has been struggling in recent years.

No matter the politics, it sucks to see people getting laid off.

I'm sure they can all get jobs at CNN or fox news because all they do is try to push their political agenda instead of covering sports anyway.

I read it as "those who watch sports dont stand for civil rights". Ya know, exactly what it says.

That's not how it came across to me. If that's what he meant, then he should have worded it better. Don't know who that is or what he's about. But he literally said "hates civil rights."
