The ref has to follow the state's/governing body's regulations though. If the corner entering the ring during a round or during a knockdown when the fighter isn't saved by the bell (which continues the round until the ref finishes the count - which is what happened here) means an automatic DQ in Texas or for this governing body, then the ref has to call it and issue the auto DQ. He can't pick and choose which rules to follow.
If its not a specific rule, then yes, the ref screwed up BIG TIME and needs to answer for it.

I get that. But they also said there is a state rep with the corners that tells them when it's ok to enter the ring. I think I saw about a 19 year old kid over there in a suit. That would suck if the state athletic commission representative gave his corner the go-ahead.
But that ref was bad the whole fight IMO.

Agreed. And agree the ref called a bad fight the entire bout. Way too much holding & pushing. Hell, molina would just put his head down and charge in the entire fight & didn't once get a warning. He got away with a little too much roughing, IMO

Know what I love about Morales? I have never been less concerned about a fighter I'm rooting for after he takes a big shot like Morales took at the end of the 3rd. I just said, "That ain't shite for Morales. He'll shake it off."
