Based on the multiple posts about MJ v. LBJ and playoff records, evidently the record in the playoffs is all that matters in determining greatness.

And basically the teammates are just along for the ride.

Playoffs: Eli > Peyton

Regular Season > Peyton > Eli

Overall: Peyton > Eli

That's sort of my point.

I don't have a problem with that opinion at all. I don't even have an opinion about it because they are in different eras playing different styles with different teammates.

The playoff record argument is just stupid.

You do realize that Jordan is the statistically superior player as well, right?

This gets just as old as the Robert Horry must be one of the best because he has a ton of rings! statement like a boom is happening. Not sure if being sarcastic but plenty of people post this.

Big men no matter how domimant never get the GOAT talk because of there limited skill set. Fair or not. Its why Shaq is never considered a GOAT..just considered a great or most dominant player ever.
And the role player having alot of rings is just people throwing out a terrible boom because everyone knows in the argument you need to be the man on your team for it to count to your legacy. Its why Pippen isn;t thrown in a GOAT argument simply because of rings. But people are so quick to act like they get a new boom in they can't wait to use the same line every other unoriginal poster uses

I think Lebron is already top 10 player of all time. I dont have him GOAT but he has plenty of time. My problem with his dick riders are if Lebron carries a team to final then he's the GOAT and if he loses the final then his team sucks around him. If he's able to carry a team to a final with such shitty teammates then the teams hes playing must really suck if he can't win once to the finals. So wouldn't that mean he's doing it against subpar competition hence making it a dent against him since its weak competition? It can't go both ways to fit a bill you're selling of he's the best ever because he gets to a final but to get to final he's playing shite competition.
Eventually you do need to show you can win more than you lose in the final to go for GOAT status or it just says you played nobodies to get to those finals so it's not as impressive

I don't care. I'm not saying Jordan is not better.

Fair enough, but there's so much lazy thinking and posts when guys say Lebron has to get to 5 or 6 to be considered in the conversation, blah blah blah. But then most of those same guys have no issue putting him ahead of Kobe. It's just inconsistent.

Obviously this is laughable, and shows how ridiculous the "rings" element of the "who's better" discussion is, like Trent Dilfer > Dan Marino, etc.

BUT.....

This year, I could see it. Eli will have a healthy Victor Cruz and OBJ. He could (should) put up some insane career-best numbers in 2015. Peyton will have another Peyton-like year, consistent, but not spectacular, if he stays healthy. Eli should explode this season.

I wonder if Peyton would trade all of his records, and regular season accolades for another ring to match Eli.
