Personally, i believe he thinks it is destroying the fun of coaching. These kids are coming into high school now uncoachable because their parents payed $$$ to someone who told them they were great ballplayers and taught them terrible fundamentals

It's been said many times in the threads on the OT about youth travel ball. Parents have invested far too much time, energy and money by the time the kids reach high school. All sense of reality has been lost. Parents make it darn near impossible to run a good high school program.

That's what I figured. Not only has travel ball all but killed the traditional rec leagues but it's also becoming a pain in the arse to HS programs......

One of the biggest issues is that every single "youth team" consists of a roster of 9 or 10 kids. Nobody ever sits on the bench more than an inning at a time. The players don't know how to handle actually "competing" for playing time.

Toula. I know some of the particulars of this situation ...
It's a culture problem more to do with what gets filled in some parents heads by "instructors" and coaches/ travel team admins ...
Toxic travel ball parents become toxic HS parents...
Also he was coaching his son which made some toxicity really hit home....
He's a good guy and a good coach....
Everywhere where nearly intact travel teams or aau teams show up at a HS. It is a coach killer
