Both left from a team that had made 1 finals.
Both had a great player on the team they left.
Both made sure the only time they'd see the best player in the league would be in the finals (Shaq moved to West, Jordan ruled east; Durant stayed in West and moved to best team, GS. LeBron rules east)

Comparable at all? Both were top 1-2 overall draft picks by original franchises?

What will be said if Durant wins 3 straight finals MVPs with GS?

On a side note, if you say Durant went to a super team, what if LeBron wins, will he get the same credit if you think he did the same?

ETA: even Shaq admits after the first couple games of the conf finals the year after they made The Finals w the Magic vs the Rockets he could tell they couldn't beat Jordan in the 30 for 30, so he jumped ship; how is that not in the same context as Durant??

Shaq went to a bad or mediocre at best Laker team, not to a NBA champion. I know it would have never happened but it would be like Shaq joining the Bulls.

Comparing Lebron's super team moves to Durant's is ridiculous(not saying you're doing that).

They're nowhere near the same thing.

So let me get this straight. Kevin Durant is widely regarded as a Top 3 player right? He is the main cog for a team that is up 3-1 in the Conference Finals to a 73 win team. He then proceeds to complete (with Russ) one of the truly epic choke jobs of our time. He was THE reason that his team lost considering his status as the 2nd or 3rd best player on the planet. When the horn sounds he is completely obsessed with beating that team that he let out of his grasp, he is either gonna give it one more shot in OKC or go to a team that will beat the team that denied him his second shot at LeBron with him as the Alpha ready to take his place alongside the greats. Well that didn't happen of course. Instead this "superstar" goes to the same team where he is not the Alpha or the Beta and can hide as the Charlie. What a tough SOB, I wouldn't want to see him in a dark alley. shite was the weakest thing I have ever seen. It is comparable to NOTHING we have witnessed. Maybe if Magic to the Celtics or Micheal to the Pistons might have happened.

The only difference is that Lebron has done it twice. The best player in the league started the trend, because the challenge was too tough. Jordan rode out the average years w the Bulls, but I guess thats why he is the GOAT.

What about Ray Allen leaving the Celtics for the Heat for among other reasons, realizing in the finals defeat that the Heat had passed the C's as the greatest team in the east and was his best chance for more rings?

Ray Allen leaving the second best team in the east for the best team basically allowed the Heat to go largely uncontested in the east for some years.

The difference is Ray Allen was a role player at that time and Durant is a superstar. Doesn't mean Ray's move was any less bitch-made than Durant's, it just means that less people care about what 37 year old Ray Allen does

this isn't talked about enough. No telling how many rings Jordan has if it was acceptable for superstars to jump ship to the biggest contender. Remember the first big 3 were the Celtics and then the heat. Guys just didn't junk ship to chase rings back in the 80s and 90s. If they did and you add one more perennial all star to the bulls in the late 80s or 90s or Jordan jumps ship 2 or 3 years in then we could be talking about chasing 8 or 9 rings in stead of 6

Ray was old, a role player, his teammates didn't like him, and he wasn't getting along with his coach.

Durant is the 2nd best player on earth...and joined maybe a top 3 basketball team of all time...after having them down 3-1.

Can you imagine Lebron joining GS? It'd be the end of the world as we know it.

Lebron joining a 73 win GS after being up 3-1 on them is closer to Durant doing it than Durant doing it is to Lebron taking a leap of faith by going to Miami and hoping he, Bosh, and Wade could make them a super power.

GS was a known commodity. And by known I mean known as maybe the best team ever. I'm pretty sure there were series and/or finals where Bosh and Wade averaged 14 and 15 points respectively.

Hell, Durant just replaced a player who played his same position. Miami had pretty much a new team when Lebron went there.

Anyone who says what Durant did is close to what Lebron did is trolling.

I highlighted the dumbest part of a dumb post. You are such a little bitch when it comes to LeBron that you're trying to act like him going to Miami to get a championship wasn't comparable to Durant going to the Warriors. It's not the same, no, but it's comparable. Don't you remember not 1, not 2 not 3, not 4, not 5...you are trying to change history and act like people didn't know they were going to be a monster team. Most people skip over your posts so you've gotten more comfortable with this stupid arse logic. "Leap of faith" get the hell out of here with that.

I didn't even say leap of faith to be good.

I said leap of faith to be a super power. He left his home to MAKE a team that he and everyone else thought would be an epic failure and mistake if they didn't turn in to a serious super power.

Nothing I said was wrong or too far or hyperbole.

Again, suck my dick.

The leap of faith part is definitely hyperbole
