I'm sure from the OT.
From the FBI crime database actually:

here was the racial breakdown of all people killed by police in 2015:

51.3% white

27.3% black

17.8% Hispanic

(38 people were other race)

And here were the racial breakdowns of police killings so far in 2016:

51.4% white

26.5% black

17.1% Hispanic

(23 people were other races)

I think these numbers are only really helpful if we know the % of each race actually stopped, right?

I don't know, that seems a bit much, but it seems like you'd need to know if the number of stops are proportionate to our population breakdown.

This. I like his show when he sticks to sports. I don't want to listen to a sports show that is constantly referencing political topics.

But he freely admits he is doing it to make white people feel uncomfortable

For me, I find what makes most seem to like Russilo is what makes me indifferent towards him.

Everyone talks about he's like a normal dude who you can talk football with. But that's not really the guy I want to hear on sports radio for 3-4 hours.

When I listen to him, it's mostly just take it or leave it, as I don't dislike it but never come away thinking I really liked it.

I think RR has a good take on things, he's not over reactionary to everything like most ESPN personalities seem to be these days...

And Kanell has actually grown on me over the last year or so. Their show is the best on radio IMO, definitely best ESPN show.
I thought Kanell was the second best choice for the show behind Adnan Virk. Virk and Russillo have great chemistry, but Russillo and Kanell do have a good rapport. Ryen will often call Kanell on his BS, and Kanell does a good job of owning it.

LeBatard is an outstanding interviewer. Typically he gets something good out of every guest. I love the show and have listened for a long time, going back when it was the 4pm time slot. His show was much better in that time slot.

Anywho, I agree the last few weeks have been worse than usual in terms of the very little he has discussed sports. I'm hopeful they get back to a 50-50 split on the show. It's def been about 20% sports lately.

You need to read what Whitlock thinks about the whole thing. It'll restore your faith in humanity.

What you need to know is harder than that. What you need to know is malice or intent. You also would like to know how much other information is being factored into the stops. You'd need to factor in the location and incidence of violent crime in the area that motivates a non-routine stop. And you'd need to understand what motivates a stop by location and incidence (routine traffic stop is very different from another stop and really should be considered as different categories of stops).

It isn't an easy analysis and anyone who tells you they can absolutely determine the motivations etc involved is probably more motivated by their own prior beliefs than anything they can see from the fuzzy data.

I think these quotes I stole from another thread sum it up even better:

quote:

– FACT: From 2011 to 2013, 38.5 per cent of people arrested for murder, manslaughter, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault were black. This figure is three times higher than the 13% black population figure. When you account for the fact that black males aged 15-34, who account for around 3% of the population, are responsible for the vast majority of these crimes, the figures are even more staggering.
– FACT: Despite the fact that black people commit an equal or greater number of violent crimes than whites, whites are almost TWICE as likely to be killed by police officers

But I'm not sure that those 2 facts are the end all when it comes to this subject.

Yeah, it seems to suggest that violent behavior is not the single or sole cause of police shootings (when you factor in violent behavior). But getting at the multiple causes resulting in a shooting is exponentially more complex.

I think simple stupidity, on the part of either cop or "civilian", can obviously be responsible. Use of too much force by the cop or failure to comply on the part of the civilian can easily be other simple causes... but the reasons for the poor choices by either party are probably as complicated as individual behavior in general.

That's the reason he did it. ESPN and LeBatard are laughing all the way to the bank.

Now the #merica crowd are going to watch every day to yell at their TVs and tell the MSB what he said.
