Isn't he on the WWII museum board?

Sounds consistent to me. My personal opinion is that my freedoms are given to me by God or nature or xenu and anyone who thinks otherwise can suck my dick

The flag represents a lot of things, including people who fought to protect those freedoms, but Murica is about the individual, not the collective (the flag)

I don't give a shite about kaepernick or Brees

If you believe the flag is an embodiment of those freedoms his reasoning is sound, but like clockwork the NFL season is shaping up to be about anything but the actual product because the actual product is boring and there's nothing to talk about

Because it stands for freedoms, which whether we like it or not, includes the freedom to express an unpopular view--including not standing for the National Anthem. He then takes by farther and says it is hypocritical to use the freedoms it allows for.

It makes more sense by the end.

frick Drew Brees, but that's not the entire quote of what he said. That's a snippet designed to elicit reaction.

Simply put:

He didnt want to honor a flag that he feels represents oppression, and coincidentally, it is the same flag that grants him the ability to do so. Protest is one thing; to not honor your country's symbol (literally the physical representation) is purely un-American. So frick him.

There's nothing confusing about it if you can speak at least remedial English.

I believe the flag gives me the right to get on TD and ask "Who gives a frick what these guys think"?

Why? Dude is a consummate professional. Doesn't matter what team you pull for, Brees is one of the best people in pro sports. And I've heard that from people who deal with him day to day when the cameras are off.

Because he's a saint.

I defended him in the 2nd part of my post you left out. He's not wrong in anything he said. But he's also a saint, so frick him at the same time.

Im a Brees fan, but agree that was awkwardly worded. It may be hypocritical or ironic, but not an oxymoron. Regardless, I don't really care about most of these guys' opinions of Kaepernik's opinion.

I did think the juxtaposition of the Kaepernik story with the story of Dwayne Wade's cousin is interesting as I saw them on back-to-back Sportscenter segments. Now that's a tragedy to shed some light on. Yet, ironically, Kaepernick has actually unintentionally thrown shade in it. I wonder if anybody has asked for Kap's thoughts on that.

They said this is the 3rd game he's done it at. People are just now making a big deal about it. Fake outrage. "Oh no he didn't, he not standing for the national anthem. If he don't like it, he should leave, blah blah blah."
