Getting 4 million next year and any future salary doesn't count against it.

That's a pretty alpha move right there.

Walk away from a job pocketing $4 mil and talk to suitors on your own terms without dealing with an ownership change.

Never heard of a HC quiting their job I wonder how would future players feel about them being their head coach.

Jets make sense for him, he's a Jets fan and has coached there before.

You don't leave a NFL coaching job without already having your next gig lined up, if you aren't fired.

Unless you don't get along with your GM and don't get any say in your personnel which appears to be the case here and why he left Buffalo.

There's so many better opportunities out there right now... I can't blame him.

That can't possibly be the reason. He has a top 5 defense already. He's 9-7 2 years in. The Bills are an average QB and healthy RB away from doing serious damage in the AFC.

This has to be a personality conflict or power struggle.
