Does anybody else find the way basketball is officiated really frustrating?

In nearly every basketball game I catch, it always seems like the refs anticipate the fouls. Blocked shot, foul. Flop after a "charge", foul (I mean, who really falls down like that anyway?). Goes up for a layup and gets grazed by the other player, foul.. etc.

I like the game in general, I just don't agree with the manner in which it is officiated.

Also, why not call traveling as it is written in the rule book? NBA players are the best in the world, shouldn't they be the best at the fundamentals as well?

No, everybody loves the NBA refs and they are widely regarded as the fairest and most trustworthy officials in all of professional sports. They rarely make a mistake

I'm talking about in comparison to other sports' officiating. It just seems like its on a whole other level of nonsense

The inconsistency is what gets me. Different set of rules for home and away teams in college. Different rules for superstars in the NBA versus the regulars. Different rules at the end of games and playoff games.

They're much better on traveling than they were about 10 years ago

I cannot stand when someone takes a "shot" and throws their arms into a defense. They were not attempting to make a shot. Merely to draw a foul. It's bush league and shouldn't be a foul. Never intended to take a shot at the basket.

. Yeah maybe so.

I know it's a complaint that's been beat to death, but I figured I might as well include it.

Yeah, it's annoying. I love basketball but a superstar can't lay it in without also getting to go to the free throw line. It's obnoxious.

This.

You don't ever see a quarterback running into a d-lineman after a pass and falling down to draw a roughing the passer do you?
(unless you're Mark Sanchez or something)

It's one of the most frustrating things watching a game. And it comes down to the end and they call a foul on some guy cause the shooter jumped into the guy. Ruins the excitement of the game. And reminds me why I hate basketball.

You know the NBA changed their rule for this season? You can't draw someone in for a pump-fake then jump into them for cheap free throws anymore.

In theory at least.

Happens a lot more than just on pump fakes. Though that's a step in the right direction. If its called.

I almost wish they would just give them helmets, make dunks worth 4 pts instead of two, and call absolutely nothing
