Dodgers were using laser range finders, left physical markers, dug holes, and had cheat sheets for outfielders position. Mets caught them in the act.

Gaining a competetive advantage?

Conspiracy to bend/break the rules?

Ruining the integrity of the game?

Oh I think so… hopefully the outfielders will be suspended, the club will be massively fined, and there will be 2 yrs of federal court out of this, They're clearly cheaters and deserve it.

Yea, I just don't see it as a big deal.

Not sure what the laser rangefinder is, can't speak on that.

It may be against the rules, but placing small markers and cheat sheets...meh.

I'm pretty sure you can't leave markers on the field.

It's as easy to get around as to just having wrist bands that tell you where to line up when so and so is up to bat.

So information is against the rules?

Who cares?

And btw, as an aside - stealing signs is part of the game, if you can't be smart enough about it. Origins of baseball weren't designed to be civil. It's real-world competition.

If that's true, then why does anyone care if they used markers?

Lol yes.
Per the Mets GM:
quote:

"I don't want to make it more than it was, but we observed some members of the Dodgers organization using technology to establish defensive positions, presumably for use during the game," Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said Saturday. "We weren't sure that was appropriate. But Major League Baseball is going to look at that issue. So I don't really have any further comment."

The "cheat sheets" should be legal if they aren't. It's a freaking piece of paper.

For years (and it still might be ongoing), the Blue Jays literally had a guy with binoculars in the CF bleachers signaling the pitches the opposing pitchers were throwing to their hitters. That's far worse than what the Dodgers are doing. And you know what MLB did? Nothing.

Just seems so minor.

It is somewhat, but my catcher in high school would call time and tell batters if they kept stealing signs we would plunk whoever was up in the face if the bases were clear.

It's a part of the game, but if you get caught then it's a part of the game to stop.

It's against the rules but you don't know what rule it breaks?

I'm 99% sure you can't mark the field.

Regardless, the armbands should be MUCH easier for alignments.

Rosenthal said that you can't leave physical markers on the field, nor can you use any technology during the game.

Also… this Syndegaard ejection was complete bullshite and as Smoltz said it had just elevated the entire situation, brawls will be expected now. Umpire to really fricked up.
