but let's be honest, the rest of Louisiana feels more connection to LSU bc basically every corner of the state has a guy who played at LSU, whereas we have a lot of NFL players too, but they get sprinkled around to different teams
It also doesnt help they call themselves the NEW ORLEANS Saints, compared to LOUISIANA STATE Univeristy

I give the Saints a slight edge over LSU, mostly because my daddy raised me on the Saints during the bad days so it meant a lot to me when they were finally decent.

Also grew up an LSU fan because that's just the way it is in South Louisiana. I figure LSU would get the nod over the Saints if I would have gone to school there, though.

But overall it's pretty much 1a 1b for me.

Depends on the region of the state.

He asked "Louisiana football fans in general"

And that is an easy answer for LSU. It isnt really debatable at all

LSU games draw a good portion of fans from the entire state, Saints fans draw from within an hour or 2 of Nola.

I agree. LSU outdraws the Saints in general if you take the entire state as a whole to compare. In fact, you lose a lot of LA folks North of Alec to the Cowboys anyway.

Yep. In this state, as a whole generalization, people plan their entire day around lsu football. There are thousands of fans that RV in from all over. Hell, some of those RVs dont even go into the game.

It really isnt even comparable to the Saints. Yes, Nola people are passionate as frick for the Saints, but it doesnt really compare to the way LSU football is treated by the state

Then how did you get led to a message board who main premise is college sports

I primarily post in Saint/Pels talk.

Question, why do LSU/College sports fans care so much when someone doesnt watch what they watch? I enjoy a good LSU game from to time but its my not preference.

Tigers. I've got no interest in the Saints. But that might be because I'm a bigger CFB fan over NFL

I actually love the Saints, which is weird, since I am not an LSU fan.. I guess I have always been a Saints fan because I grew up watching how bad they generally were and I felt sorry for them.

Louisiana's football team is LSU! NOLA's football team is the Saints. Benson can pack up and move his billion dollar corporation any time he wants, while LSU has and will always be in Louisiana.

What makes any of you say that North Louisiana is Cowboys country? I know this, the sports media on Monroe only covers the Saints and has never covered Dallas and I remember this going 1970s. They didnt even cover or ahiw Cowboys games in the early 90s.

LSU, easily. Frick the Aints! They are the NEW ORLEANS Saints.

It's always aggravated the piss out of me when people act like you should automatically be an Aints fan because you live in Louisiana. Frick that toilet bowl team, and frick that toilet bowl city and it's shitty mayor.

Go Cowboys!

More inclined to say Tigers, Louisiana's always been a college football state wayyy before the Saints were founded and consist of more traditions and pageantry than the Saints as well. It's the state flagship university and everyone around Louisiana relates to the Tigers. There's a reason north Louisiana is referred to as East Texas due to the multitudes of Cowboys fans comprising that population.

Its LSU by a mile and the main reason is CFB
Is just more popular in LA. I could care less about the saints and think it's a joke any taxpayer money goes to any NFL team. Sad thing is once Benson dies who knows where the saints will end up. LSU is the state school.

These are the CFB states where the CF team is more popular than the pro team IMO
Louisiana
Ohio
Tennessee
Florida
Georgia
Michigan

Pennsylvania is hard to call.

I am a Badger fan 1st by far....but here in Wisconsin the Packers have a greater following.

As I get older I care less about LSU. It doesn't make it any easier that LSU basically surrendered by hiring a complete clown as the head coach, and accepted its role as that crazy drunk uncle, instead of striving to be an elite program competing for national titles. I don't really relate to that mindset.

That said, college (SEC) football is pretty perverse at its core. It's not about student athletes, it's about unpaid semi pro athletes being cheered on by a bunch of drunk people who would have nothing to do with them otherwise. So I find myself getting progressively less worked up about it as I get older. Saints are more fun to watch anyway.
